Rain has been battering roses here too. A lot of them are hanging facing down now. Anyway from the patio door and window it doesn't matter, it's beautiful out there.
I need some tutorial on how to arrange flowers. My poor attempt with some leaves 🤣
Westerland, Lady Emma Hamilton, Thomas a Becket. My three year old daughter did a better job
..nice arrangements newbie.. your daughter did you proud..
...all lovely roses above, beautifully photographed, but I think Mr Vine Eye should send his photo of Malvern Hills off to DA next time they have a competition, so they include it in their catalogues..
My Creme de la Creme is just about to bloom. I've never seen it mentioned on the forum. I keep wondering if this is a bad sign. Does anyone have any rumour of it or know its repuation?
I can see that the euonymous is going to have to come out to make room or it. Oh dear.
@Nollie - it’s been fine on hot days, I think, but it does start getting shade from the house after lunchtime. Last year I believe it took quite a long break after the first flush before flowering again.
@Marlorena - that’s kind, what you said about my photo, it’s the purple sprouting broccoli seedlings in the window that really finish it off 😄
Ohh I was excited to find what looked like ladybird eggs on the underside of a leaf on my apple tree. I haven’t seen many ladybirds at all in the garden this year - after struggling to find a plant without them on last year. I think I’ve only spotted one to photograph this summer, I hope they’re making a return!
I was at my allotment plot this afternoon and saw a flower opening on Arthur Bell - a sad blackspotted thing he is though. More exciting was seeing a damsel fly on a blade of grass that was dipping into the pond - that’s the sort of place they lay their eggs! Also seen some larger backswimmers in addition to the lesser waterboatmen that have been resident for a while. Plants all rooting out of their baskets and into the pond.
JessicaS I just love your garden. I was wondering is there any way you could name the plants in the photos. I’d love some of the ones you have but don’t have a clue what they are! I especially like the pink plant in the bird bath photo
Lovely fragrant blooms from 'Lady of the Lake'. We've been amazingly lucky (for once) with the rain so far up here in't north, hardly a drop, so the roses are remaining pretty much perfect.
@Mr. Vine Eye thanks for that yes RIB would probably need a maximum of 3-4 hours morning sun here. Might be worth a try!
Orange roses - always a struggle to get intense colours here. Alexander’s first bloom looking a bit coral. The wider shot shows the stronger Super Trouper in the background:

I’ll try and take photos or do a video tomorrow.
