Thank you. Cooldoc. Yes I have seen the wonderful pictures and just can’t wait for mine to bloom. Am very impatient. Just wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and this is the best place to ask for advice.
    Thanks.

Interesting what you are all saying re Desdemona, there are some comments/photos on HMF re warmer tones, some photos from France of it looking rather yellow! Maybe it’s a heat thing.

I would definitely say Desi has a faint pink flush when it first opens.
@Shenny, with the floribundas Multi headed rose blooms) I’m a bit fussy about pruning off each flower as it goes over as some flowers are heavy and the rose branches start to flop over. I then prune down the stem to a pair of leaves. I’ve got to have something to fill the time now I’ve retired!😉

Bumblebees have set up a nest right at the base of Etoile and it's tricky to water it. They don't like water anywhere near it.

That's a bit tricky @Fire, how old is your Etoile, 2 yrs? If so, it should be able to manage without watering for another couple of days, we have thunderstorms forecast by Thursday I believe. If I had to choose, I'd save the rose, as the bees will just find another home.

For some reason, in my garden established plants, trees and shrubs still need watering through the summer - even eight years in. My Ena - eight years old - still needs watering. Within two days of a deep water, it puts on huge growth, so it is worth doing. They stall and look sad, the leaves go yellow without water. I'm not remotely on sandy soil so I don't know why it drains so fast.
