Irrelevant adverts

Is anybody else fed up with the number of irrelevant adverts we have to scroll through to read an article?

Admittedly I live in the sticks and have very slow broadband. However sometimes it can take 10 minutes or more to open a page because the adverts open first. Even once the article I want to read is open, it sometimes buffers as the adverts change and I have to wait all over again.

Personally I feel if we pay for this service we should not be inundated with adverts. Fair enough if it is free but it isn't.

I am sure you can down load an ad blocker  (from google extensions or Firefox if you are using that?)
  • It’s ridiculous! We’re just being sold stuff everywhere we go. However if you are using a web browser you can download ad blockers which should help you.

I did try that but it blocked everything and I couldn't see a thing. Maybe I did it wrong

I tried it and yes it work on this site but the other sites I look at wont let me see anything unless I remove the ad blocker.
I guess I am not paying or asked to pay a subscription to those sites so there's not a lot I can do.
Great for this site though, thanks

This site is free, it has nothing to do with the magazine, so if they didn't have adverts, we would not have a site at all.

You don’t have to have a subscription to access this forum, or the general GW website, it is FREE to use. But they have to fund the technical team to run it and other overheads, that’s why it has adverts.

The only bit you have to pay a subscription for is the Secret Garden section.  The Forum and the rest of the site is free to allcomers ... I know many many regular posters on here who do not subscribe to the magazine.
