@didyw, sending best wishes for your BIL, what a bit of bad luck. I know someone who got ill with Covid on the day of their vaccination appointment, obviously couldn't then have it, all very bad timing. Luckily not too ill with it though at least.

One of my staff who is 54 and can't have the AZ jab managed to get a slot for herself and 3 friends today at a vaccination centre, they travelled over an hour to get there but were very happy to have got the appointment. Apparently a notification went around asking for people to come because there wasn't enough uptake, I am not exactly sure where it was, south of Perigueux. They had the Ffizer. Worth looking out for @Busy-Lizzie.... I found the link.....

You really are keeping doing well with decorating and gardening I hope you are feeling pleased with yourself, good to keep active when you really must be missing OH and the family visits of course.

Enjoyed my little bike ride today, it has a pedometer on it so I know exactly how far and how fast I am going. I only went 19.75 km and I am not a fan of speed, I hate going fast down hill, makes me feel out of control, top speed reached was 25 km an hour, I don't want to faster then that.

Charlie had great fun dog sitting today, they left lots of cake and biscuits, they have a giant TV and they gave him the wifi code so he could play on his phone. Then when they came back they gave him 20€ for his time, he was ecstatic. I did tell them it was too much but they insisted, he was really only doing it as a favour.

Hope you've managed to round all the chooks up @obelixx, I'll be watching Owain in the morning, check out his attire. Sorry I confused your days @dovefromabove

All chooks accounted for this evening.  I went down a bit earlier than OH does, just to be sure and they were all tucked up and crooning at me.   Still only one on their perch tho.  Maybe when it's warmer.   5 eggs today too after a few days of only 4.

You sound like you're cracking on very well @Busy-Lizzie.   We're expecting a wet weekend so will crack on with the Cave sorting - laying tiles on the concrete shelf I've made to level the shelving.   While that goes off Possum is going to help me empty, sort and clean all the pantry cupboards and shelves.  I'm starting to get twitchy about the decorating that needs finishing in there but first it has to be clean.

OH gets his jab tomorrow and I'm now signed up for taking any spare slot that comes up but take-up here is actually high tho I know some people are wary of the AZ jab.  I'm not so fingers crossed.

Hugs to all who are worrying about sick and/or distant rellies or their own health.   Looks like you're going to be colourful for a while @Pat E.

New Asparagus crowns arrived yesterday, so today I moved the old raised bed frame to the other end of the plot and made up the new bed, with added grit, topsoil and manure. Hoping I can keep them free from perennial weeds this time.
    Bit cream crackered now.

  • Good evening, really enjoying all your chat. New job is really interfering with the garden; I sit at my desk, looking at an utterly beautiful vista and want to be out there. Roll on retirement (not wanting to wish my life away) Work/Life balance,  what's that all about?

Hello Forkers. Another bright sunny morning here but a bit coolish. I’ve got a flannelette shirt on instead of my usual t-shirt.

My eye is still looking very colourful. I’ve a visit to the nurse this morning for a checkup. Stitches aren’t to come out before 10 days. That’ll be fun I imagine. 🙄 Otherwise I feel normal. Hubby is being super protective and every time I want to go out to water my pots I get a lecture about being careful. As if!

Night night  to you night birds.

Home after visit to nurse. Bandages now off and my GP popped her head in while I was there and after a good look at my head said she’ll take the stitches out on Tuesday.  Ok. Progress of a sort.

She told me that when I was in CAS on Tuesday  she was giving anaesthetic in theatre. Then a nurse came in and asked the surgeon for advice for the GP looking after me.  When asked how old I was, the nurse said oh about 60.  My GP had a good laugh when she found out it was me. Couldn’t wait to share the joke with me.
