  • Cakes in the oven, shopping done for Indian takeaway night on Friday, having a coffee on very dusty terrace, looks like the mm of rain we had yesterday had Sahara sand in it again - and I just cleared it all the other day too. 🙄

    Nice and warm though. 😎

    Afties all,

Finally a spot of rain here o/night and this morning. Don't think it is anywhere near enough but saves me a job today :)

I’ve had an email to say that D. Waltzing Mathilda is out for delivery with Mitch ... 😃
    I'm V jealous.

    She’s arrived

Much further forward than I’d expected. She’ll have to go into the studio at night.

@Obelixx do you mean you'd sow in batches over a few weeks or that you'd happily have 50 onions all in one go? I've popped 15 in the ground now but not sure if they're a bit like potatoes - which I understand take a relatively small amount of time to grow to full veg. potential - or if they're like garlic, which is a harvest at the end of the whole season, job done deal. Probably why I shouldn't be left alone in a garden centre

@Dovefromabove what a lush plant, looking forward to seeing how she flowers - must admit I prefer the pompom style dahlias but the colouring on WM is gorgeous!

    Even MORE jealous.
I called our local GC and they're going to see if they can source one. I'm not holding out much hope

@takhana you need to plant them all now or they'll wither and die.  When you harvest them you need to hang them up to dry before storing in a dark but airy place.  I used an old pallet on a set of table legs to dry mine last year and it worked a treat.

@Hostafan1 there’s a National Collection  of Dahlias at a nursery somewhere not too far from you ... do you think  they’d have it! I’ve no idea of it’s name tho 🤔

P.S. Ah ... it’s in Penzance and its website says it’s no longer a commercial business. 🙄

@Obelixx oh gosh, ok, might have to rethink the veg plot plans. Though tbf I think I could fit a second row in and give the extra to my sister, or see if anyone in the village would like them a la how I got my seeding potatoes!
