I think I'll just accept that French wines are not made for spices, except, occasionally a goody from the south west/Basque region where they do grow and eat Espelette chillies. Not my favourite chillies, being "thin" and lacking depth of flavour. They don't do all the rest of the spices either.

Gewurztraminer vendanges tardives is when the grapes are harvested several weeks after official harvests, when the grapes are overripe and have developed ‘noble rot’. This is the sweetest in flavour, the French drink it with Foie Gras or dessert or as an aperitif. I think normal, drier Gerwurz is good with Chinese or Thai food. It's one of my favourite wines, has a lovely fruity flavour. But I have a sweet tooth and I don't like very dry wines.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just popped in to catch up before bed. Glad your visit to your mum went well punkdoc. We had sad news here in my little town - the local ballet teacher has died of cancer - just a few years older than me. Such a lovely lady, I admired her so much. Petite, elegant, every movement gracious and beautiful. I was so excited when my two little granddaughters were able to attend her classes as I loved doing ballet as a child. But they gave it up, despite adoring Liz, when they became old enough for Brownies. The streets will be packed when her funeral cortege passes through - she touched so many lives here.
I don't like hot chillies either but I do like spices of all sorts from fragrant cardamom to earthy cumin and slightly numbing Szechuan peppercorns and medium chillies.
Shopping day tomorrow so I shall see if they have a dry Gewurtztraminer but I never met a sweet one in all the years in Belgium which loves Alsace wines, hence the surprise at this sweet one.
Sewing Bee was a bit of an oddity tonight with some quite odd creations and fabric choices and styles. Just waiting for OH to say he wants a jacket full of pockets.

Hello everyone. I’ve been waiting for the fog to lift all morning and now I can see our mountain range at 12.30.
I dug up one of my parsley plants and popped into a tube pot to fit on my narrow kitchen windowsill for convenience. Love parsley on tomato at breakfast. I usually spread my toast with Aldi’s goat cheese and then a slice of Black Russian tomato and a leaf or two of the parsley. Yum! 😜
We are off to town today to get our annual flu vaccination before the COVID vaccine in a Couple of weeks. (All going as planned).
Allotment Boy. I meant to respond to your comment about the starlings. We regularly have about 20 Choughs (which are about the size of ravens ) arrive after birdseed has been put in the feeder. They vacuum the lot up and our poor parrots and galahs look at the feeder with a sad droop to their heads afterwards. I had to laugh yesterday when I heard them our there again having a picnic, when Hubby jumped up, grabbed his Drone, went out to the veranda and later came in with a big smile. He’d hovered above the feeder with it and they all departed in short order. 😂😂. He does the same thing when next door’s goats get into our orchard to demolish whatever they can reach.
