When I'm in England I have them everyday for breakfast. Not available in France unless you make them.

I could really fancy a Hot Cross Bun! If there is one thing I miss over here, it is that. I'm not a baker at all so to try and make them would be a terrible injustice.

Hot cross buns are definitely for Good Friday.  We've just finished that batch, toasted and I have a second batch on the go.  Had to split the dough so Possum could have hers with chocolate chip cos she thinks she doesn't like dried fruit.  This batch of dough is on its first prove and behaving differently but then I did use half and half spelt and wholemeal this time so not a surprise.

We have clear blue skies and wall to wall sunshine or moonshine for the next few days and it's gorgeous, except for the biting north wind that makes it really unpleasant to do static jobs like hand weeding.  Our rain has been postponed to Friday now and we'll be getting frosts that feel like minus 10C on Tuesday and Wednesday.   Lovely.

I shall go and sow some seeds in the annex then clean out the chooks and then hide from the wind.

Hot Cross buns are definitely for Good Friday :D ... I was going to make some more for today, but as my son may be calling over tomorrow I'll make them tomorrow morning so they're fresh for afternoon tea in the garden.

Now I'm having an egg mayo sandwich with fresh chives for lunch ..... I love chives  :)

I was going to make some hot cross buns but my husband doesn't particularly like them and I can't really eat bread these days without reaching for the Rennies. My daughter brought some co-op hot cross buns round though, for tea and buns in the garden on my birthday a couple of days ago.  But it was seeing her and my two teenage granddaughters (who hardly looked at their mobile phones at all! I was privileged!) that was the best bit.  The buns? Meh.

You must have great charisma if you can keep 2 teenagers off their mobiles.  :)

Afternoon all,  I've been eating strawberry and white chocolate hot cross buns. They are lovely.  It's a really sunny day here but the wind is absolutely freezing.  I've had a walk round the garden but much to cold to do any work out there.  I've got more seeds to sow but I think I need to set up a heater to keep the greenhouse frost free as there are too many seedlings to grow on in the conservatory.  I will also need to sort out the shade netting.
The emergency turkey crown and pigs in blankets we bought for Christmas are defrosting in the kitchen for tomorrow's lunch.  Secondborn will be joining us as the boys are away and she is in our bubble.  We'll probably do an outside visit to Firstborn to give Merri and Mabel their Easter treats later in the day.  It's forecast to be cold but sunny.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
