DD, Wow! But I have seen photos before. Pruning  and/or cutting down: overgrown Leylandii hedge; a Thuya tree; a small, leaning dead tree and 2 low branches of a pine tree that stick out sideways.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I bought Empress Wu about 3 or 4 years ago. This has since been split into 4 or 5 plants and this is one of them.
Please note we had about 12 nights of frost up until last week

  • I will be so happy if mine gets to look anything like that this year @Hostafan1. I am glad to hear it can cope with sun too because the neighbour has cut all the overhanging trees back. It will still be shady, but not quite as much as I had anticipated.

First time we have ever seen sky and sun on that side of the house, needed my sunglasses the other day.  B)

I will be so glad when it's all finished, it looks like a building site out there, at least a sunny one though now.
