That’s the sort of story I like Punkdoc. Made my evening.
ive been fed up with TV today and was ready for bed early when Hubby put on an old recording of Johnnie and Jasmin selling houses in the Dales and northern Italy. That helped.
Well all the greenhouse is up... except one of the triangular panes at the front; it was broken when we took it down so my OH bought a replacement from a local greenhouse glazier guy and he's given us the wrong bloody size. Which is really annoying!
Hello all, it's been a lovely sunny day here, up to 19c by 4 pm, rather unexpected. It's terribly dry though, think I might have to get the hosepipe out later. I've managed to clean most of the paving using Patio Magic but need to get some more. Then I dug up lots of small clumps of Scabious Butterfly Blue as it's just too dry where they were. I've potted up most of them and binned the rest. Not sure where I'm going to put them all.
Very moved by the Prince's funeral yesterday, thought it was very well done, beautiful music, so sorry for the Queen, having to sit alone but very many other families have had to endure the same.
Glad I don't live in France with their outdated inheritance laws. Hopefully, as the vaccinations rates seem to be improving fast @Busy-lizzie, the regulations might ease so you can travel over soon. Personally I believe that what you want should come first and the children are jolly lucky if they get anything - so what if they have to pay taxes, hard luck! Having to arrange roast lamb dinner around the Grand Prix coverage tonight, OH might have to have his on a tray.
I didn't feel like painting this afternoon, so I went for a walk. There's a bridleway just before the next village so I thought I'd try it. It went uphill, then around to the left. The track went on with a signpost to the local town, but I went downhill along a lane which came back to the village. This is the village lavoir where the village ladies did the washing. Imagine washing sheets in winter!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
What a beautiful area @Busy-Lizzie ... I remember an elderly French lady telling me she used to like using the lavoir and sometimes chose to take some washing there even after she had good laundry facilities in her home ... she said it was more fun doing the washing and having a chat with her friends at the same time ... she said that once the lavoirs went out of use women were more isolated.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Good evening everyone, hope everyone is keeping well and healthy!
Not popped my head in for a while, work has been taking up far too much time unfortunately. Not really been able to get out in the garden much either other than to water the pots now and then. Got an hour or so this evening to prick out done seedlings, hopefully they all survive, still a bit new to all that!
Talking about French Inheritance rules, some years ago, Hubby said if he got made redundant again he was going to train up at Renault and we were moving to France, Normandy or Brittany, this was round about 2000, I contacted the French Consulate and Embassy to see what would be required to live and work there, and was told that a spouse couldn't inherit it passed to the children. Our house wasn't ready so we couldn't sell it.My grandsons other grandad bought a 6 bedrooms farmhouse in Normandy, for less than the price of a one bedroom apartment here.
