    @Nanny Beach

    I've grown Claret (more a dark red) and Ruby Eclipse from Chilterns Seeds this year... both varieties are growing well in their 20cm/8in pots (thx @Songbird-1 ) ... will post pics when they flower...

    Our whole new garden!

    This is our third year here. Year one was tidying up a garden that had been unloved and left to grow unchecked for many years. Year two was building a pond and planting it up for a fine summer display. This year has been digging out around 10 tonnes of soil, concrete and stone ready for a complete re-landscaping to feature a large patio, pergola, greenhouse and dry stone wall pond and waterfall.

    All being well, we're two months away from completion!
    Are you sure you’re not describing my garden?! Minus the waterfall and dry stone wall perhaps.
    We removed 5 skips of rubble and weeds, the memory still haunts me. 8 hours of digging per day, that’s how I damaged my left knee ligaments…
    Its so exciting to watch it evolve, now we’re into our third year here. Especially seeing how well the plants from our old garden, brought over in pots, are now doing in the ground. The black elder, daphne and olive trees have double in size!

    Promised to post pics of my non-yellow sunflowers...

    Not sure I'll be growing them again, certainly not against the stone wall, as although they did well, the colours were kinda lost...

    As an update from me, my thalictrum as lovely but fairly short - their first year. I hope they manage to return next year and gain some height. The flowers are lasting well.

    I sowed Kiwano seeds earlier this year.  Two have survived and are growing well except so far, there are no flowers!!  I will be patient.
    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
