Enjoyed the show as always, I'll be going over the mecconopsis section again in and attempt to get them to grow here. My only issue and it has been for years is not getting bigger shots of the gardens (Monty's, Adams, whoever's) to see the little sections in context to the whole surroundings. Wonder if anyone will moan at Adam for preaching peat free compost same as Monty. Am debating replacing our big fence with a a wall, ok it would take me years to build it 🤯 but they don't half make a perennial bed look brilliant sitting behind the plants.

loved last night's programme. I did nip to the loo when the meconopsis guy was on, not my bag, but still interesting.
Loved the 92 years old lady.

How refreshing last night's episode was! Im going to watch it again! Normally these days it's just on in the background.  It wasn't pandering to only novice gardeners this time but a good balance of informative content.
I prefer Adam for garden advice programs and Monty for the garden tour type programs that he does.
Edited while watching for a second time to confirm that I truly hate astilbe. Always thought I did but to see them en masse was a horrendous sight! 😱

First time I haven't ff , and didn't feel the need to.
I would love Meconopsis but feel my garden is too dry for it, and the shady area is definitely too dry.
I too hate Astilbe, just didn't realise how much😱

I must confess that was the first episode that l watched from beginning to end for a very long time.
Maybe the earlier start time played a part, but l was conscious of the fact that time seemed to pass by quickly.
I am not a big fan of astilbe either @WonkyWomble, but must confess l liked the pink one that Joe Swift hated 😊. The one he liked, l thought looked half dead !
My faith in GW was restored a bit last night.

  • Enjoyed it. Love astilbes. Skipped the cut flower segment - not my thing.
  • I thought the Iris segment was lovely, and yet again I found myself saying to my wife “there’s nothing like an Englishman for developing an obsession with one very specific element of something”. I feel like there’s evidence of this almost every week on GWc, between the Iris garden last night, Monstera Man the other week, and more! Not to upset the many English people on here!

I had to check the length of the show as it went by so quickly last night.

    Enjoyed it very much.

Agree - I too loved the programme last night.  The 92-year-old gardener was inspirational.

I'm almost tempted to try another Meconopsis... the little one, quintuplinervia, is less in-your-face blue - more of the slatey grey about it - and it ran happily around my shady rockery in west Yorks for a number of years until overcome by slugs...

Astilbe 'Sprite' is ok IMO.  Small, with more feathery, sparse flowers in a delicate colour.

Did Adam really say next week's programme started at 9.30??  Must be some sport on earlier if so.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
