Ah @Busy-Lizzie yes ... poor lonely donkey ... and gelded so late ... he’ll have been frustrated and consequently bad tempered all his life and those behaviours will have become entrenched. I hope he can be found a new home soon ... perhaps with company in an adjoining field so that he’s not solitary but can’t reach them to do any damage. Bless him 😢
Need to get some more white foxgloves on the go on our Shady Bank ... I’ve got some little ones to go in and some Pam’s Choice seeds so it’s really just a matter of time.

Hello to everyone, well the threatened rain didn't materialise, yesterday or last night. Managed to rotavate where I had been digging previously. After months of none, we had a mouse in the utility room this morning. More clearing to work out where the little s*ds are getting in 😡
I have a little area out the back that I want to rejuvenate. It is a very shady corner, there is a well, we are going to put a new roof on it and (hopefully, if it's not too expensive) a little made to measure metal grill instead of the chicken wire.
Beneath is a little triangle of earth and I believe there is one hosta already in there. I want to completely cover the earth with hostas or a mix of hostas and heuchera perhaps.
I prefer the variegated ones, but because f the Baytree behind (absent neighbours) and the fact that it is a dark corner, not sure they will be happy. It can be damp in the winter because of the collection of leaves that accumulate, but I could deal with that better once I know I have precious plants in it.
Recommendations please of suitable hostas and heucheras that will brighten this dull corner.....photos to follow

I never know whether that fern is a weed or a specimen plant, but it keeps coming back. I have to fight with the ivy, but I haven't been out there yet this year.

I feel your choice may be dictated by the varieties available locally. Go with white, rather than yellow variegated types. The yellow will end up going more towards green. I don't grow heuchera because they're always killed by vine weevil here

Glad you’ve had your jab @D0rdogne_Damsel

Possible hosta @Hostafan1?

Do you think they will be ok in such a dark corner, I am not sure much sun ever gets there?
