You could soak some of the pellets with heated whey and turn it into mash ... see if they like that?

Hi everyone. Our son returned to Canberra this morning and left the delightful Pixel with us because she is due for her annual vaccine which gets done by our local Vet.

We had an unusual visitor a couple of hours after he left. 😳😂😂. A goanna. We think it  might have been looking for our skinks which hang around the back of the house waiting for grated carrots. I’m having trouble putting the photo on, so I’ll try on the next page.

    Trying again.

Here it is. He/she was looking through the glass door.  😳  would have measured about 1.5 metres I think.

  • Good morning @Dovefromabove and @Pat E

My goodness, that is not something I would like to see looking in at the window, I shriek if I see a mouse.  :*

Elbow feels a little better today, it's strange it is only sore when doing certain things, underarm weight bearing is especially painful but other things are fine. I did a bit of h******k yesterday and swept some leaves up from the back of the house, a real wind tunnel where they always congregate. They were nice and dry though, more of a wedge of leaves than loose leaf, so not too tricky.

Did pick up a bargain in Lidl yesterday, 6 x Camellia Japonica, a good size too, only 9.95€ each, perfect for my new windbreaker hedge I need.

Still looking for rose trellis and a metal bench though. Found a lovely set of trellis c/o @Marlorena on the rose thread, but they are not delivering to France. The one bench I found that I really liked was over 1000€, certainly not what I'd be prepared to pay for a bench!

I’ve just been reading about goannas online. Apparently they’ve been known to mistake standing humans for trees and tried to climb up ... if you go outside dont stand still @Pat E !

Do you know where that ones come from?  Do they live nearby ?

That’s the first I’ve heard of that Dove. 😂😂.  I do have an idea that they are not venomous, but have dirty mouths and can cause a nasty infection if you’re bitten. I won’t be testing that theory though.  I don’t know where it came from Dove, but since we are sitting on 100 acres it could have come from anywhere. 😁

DD, I’m not keen on getting close either, but we are keeping alert when we move around outside.  My Cunningham Skinks are out there waiting for their daily helping of grated carrot, so I snuck out and grated some for them.  No sign of the goanna at the mo.
