Hi everyone - hope you are all ok. I had a weeks annual leave last week and I was so happy for the weather! I was lucky enough to get my Covid jab on the Saturday (I work for the NHS, not front line but do go into clinical areas) so any gardening was put off until the beginning of the week when I knew I would feel ok. I managed to clear out all around my cold frame and have a good tidy. I moved a couple of plants and pruned some roses. I also got rid of some old rotten pots and have replaced them with new and have filled them with compost ready to go.
Seed wise the sweet peas are "okay" some are a bit weedy so will probably do a second sowing at some point. The mange tout are starting to poke their heads out the top of the compost and I have pricked out my tomatoes, dahlia and chilli plants.
My crocuses that I planted in autumn are showing their heads which is lovely. Funnily I bought a mixed pack of purple and orange crocus and yet every one that has come up is orange!!!
All in all a lovely week in the garden - and very satisfying!
Hope you are all well! So heartwarming to hear people are getting outside and spring is arriving!!
Just back from Docs'. Stitches out , saw Doc and she's signed me off for another 2 weeks, but she's said I "can do light, one handed chores in the garden." I'm glad OH has arrived in Norfolk @Busy-Lizzie
I have decided to make a Welsh Onion Pie for St David's day dinner but, of course there's no Caerphilly here, or Lancashire, Cheshire, Wensleydale and no comparable French cheeses. Googling about I came across a recipe for home-made Caerphilly which actually doesn't seem that complicated so now I'm wondering about having a go.
Anyone made their own cheese?
