I think Patriot is one I bought last year in Norfolk to brighten a dark corner.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • And @Hostafan1, do you think that little bit of new leaf is a hosta?

    And another....
Hosta Clifford's Forest Fire - Variegated Hosta

Do you think they will be ok in such a dark corner, I am not sure much sun ever gets there?
I don't know that one, but I fear it'd end up green after a season.
    H. medio variegata, and H. albomarginata are usually pretty readily available.
You could also consider one HUGE plant, like H. Empress Wu to just fill it?
    Devon.
  • Ah ha, there was a reason I asked an expert - I very much like the look of that one! And it is available here from my usual supplier. :)

Now that really would look fabulous ... just imagine her bursting out of that ‘doorway’ 😍

    How lovely @punkdoc

When we moved here I tried to recreate the fence and planting that I’d had by a window in a former home which had been the haunt of wrens, and I put a nestbox on the trellis behind the Vib. Bodnantense, where it soon became engulfed by Clem. freckles.
Last year a wren started spending a lot of time hoping around in the clem and singing from the Rosa rugosa next to the Vib.
In the last few days we’ve noticed activity in the nest box. To say I’m excited is an understatement. I can see the gap in the foliage that leads to the box from where I sit on the sofa 😀
