I feel that way about gazanias. I love the plain creams and greeny whites but not the stripey ones or oranges but there's a couple of dark reds and scarlets that I don't remember from last year . They're exactly where the old ones were so not self -seeded. I doubt they can change colour but it's a bit strange. Maybe it's some form of reversion.
Campanula aka bee hotel - two curled up for the night
I know it doesn't look very impressive but I've finally planted the hot border - crocosmia, canna, eucomis, phormium, verbena, angelica. A few things still flowering like chives that I haven't the heart to move but the lavender will be moved tomorrow. Only the ricinus left to plant. Dwarf fruit trees behind.
Peonis, poppies, verbena and dahlias. In the foreground my enormous daphne which is really just the most fantastic value. It is now on its second flush of flowers and the scent is wonderful.
Wider view of the campanula and cornus behind.
First full year for this bed. Cleared it during lockdown last year and planted the griselinia hedge. Not sure what to plant to fill the gaps really so thought poppies and foxgloves would give me some time. Does anyone know what the two gtall plants in the foreground are?
Safety in numbers - planted lupins and delphiniums together. It seems to have worked in terms of slug resilience. I need to add proper supports next year for the delphiniums. First tree peony flower looking pink in the middle.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth
I'm not sure the picture has significantly changed since my last post but here's the garden now. I think I could do with something in a rich sumtuous red to offset all the mauve and white, perhaps Iris 'Red Zinger' or 'Benton Caramel'?
Happy to see my Actaea pachypoda flowering, this means that there may be white berries later in the year!
