@Camelliad my garden group did a bulk order, and it's exciting to see Fire King and our assorted tulips popping up all over the neighbourhood. The wallflowers smell amazing, partly because I planted blocks together. In previous years I didn't plant them en masse - I do think that is how they and tulips do best - almost touching. I could have put in double of both again. It would be interesting to see how the colours change when planted in strong sun and when in shade. Mine are mostly in dappled shade, so all are more or less the same colour.

The bare root wallflowers are a good investment in the autumn and cheap as chips. Pollinators like them too. What more could you ask?

@Fire that's so lovely. Yes agreed re: planting en masse. I'm learning to do this slowly and am annoyed with myself whenever I don't now! When will you cut Fire King back? Straight after flowering?

My wallflowers seem to last a long time. In the past I have keep them going into previous years. They get a bit woodier, but bigger. This year I will keep them in until they no more use to the bees. I will have a load of digitalis Illumination to go in their place.

Checked it out, it's when you can tread on nine daisies at once, it's spring. Sorted then😉
    In London. Keen but lazy.
