Good morning LB and Debs. Hazelheucheras don’t like full sun but don’t like to be completely in the shade either say the experts. You may not have dug a big enough hole for the root growth and it could be struggling. Add some nice compost and check for critter and insect damage and then cross your fingers. I hope this helps. Does anyone know where White Rabbits came from? I recall from school it used to be on the black board on the 1st of the month and we were told we had to say it before 12 for luck.
Debs, I hope that you get to swap your holiday from work to suit. We are the same at work. It's ok at first when picking dates but they options soon dwindle. We have to book our holidays upto 12 months before too.
I was out in the garden yesterday too. I think the gardens in my area were very busy with activity. You could hear mowers, chatter, children playing. So good to hear.
Biglad, all my 'stuff' goes into the garage so it now looks like Steptoe's yard. A little later this year I'm going to hire a mini skip to just dump everything. I did manage to get rid of a pallet to my NDN for her to burn in her fire pit but that was just a drop in the ocean of 'stuff'. I cannot believe how many plant pots I have managed to accumulate over the years.
Chive, it much be such a relief to the family that your FIL is settled and happy. Roll on visiting!

Hazel, heucheras were one of Joyce's favourites and she advised me to treat them with a vine weevil treatment every year as they are a favourite of that particular beastie. It might be worth your while digging out the plant and checking for vine weevil grubs before following RosieBB's advice for replanting then to get some vine weevil treament.

Having watched Monty's compilation programme on Friday, I decided to have a go at growing some dahlias from seed and treat them as annuals rather than saving the tubers they produce. Anyway, I've sent off for a packet of dwarf dahlia seeds to give it a whirl. Watch this space.

There are many theories relating to the saying of 'white rabbits' before midday on the first of the month, combined with the saying of 'pinch and a punch for the first of the month and no returns'. They are reputed to bring good luck. Apparently it was a common belief of WW2 bomber aircrew to say 'white rabbits' each morning to keep them protected.
