Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
  • Good Morning Debs, Rubee & LB and all to follow,
Debs How lovely to see the Robin enjoying the birdbath. Hope your grandson soon settles into a sleep pattern,
Rubee I hope the wind doesn’t cause any damage to your garden today,
LB I like to bring the bins in as soon as they’ve been emptied, I had to go looking for our recycle box one windy day as it landed up at the other end of the road. Fortunately the house number is on the lid and sides so I could identify our one 🤨
Showers forecast for today so I’ll need indoor activities, hope you all have a good day ahead.
  • Good morning Debs, Rubee, LB and Chive.  It’s raining outside.  I’m watching the birds busy in the garden.  Chive I remember playing bin detective.  Debs I’m glad to hear mother and baby doing well.  I hope sleeping improves.  Have a good day.
  • Good Morning RosieBB & Hazel,
Rosie It is enjoyable to watch the birds in the garden,
Hazel I hope you slept well you sound brighter today, you are off to a good start with those plant purchases the Dahlias sound lovely. I bet you are keen to get growing in your greenhouse 🌱
I popped to Lidl nothing so exciting came home with me, I meant to look for those mini pickled onions PR recommended my OH would like those. Instead it was just a few bits to top up the fridge & fruit bowl.
Started to rain here now, time for a cuppa.

Afternoon all,  Weather is good here, sunny intervals and not too cold.  I've been out clearing out the pond, ready for the frogspawn, and tidying up more of the borders.  One more day and I'll pretty much be done so I can get on with mulching and feeding.  Need to think about sowing some seeds too.  Mind you the greenhouse needs sorting out first.
    Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Afternoon all. It's been a wet morning here but the sun is shining now - hopefully the next day or so will be pleasant.

Went for my jab yesterday & OH had his this morning. No nasty side effects other than a bit of an achey arm. Wouldn't mind so much except I also had physio on the other arm yesterday - so I actually have 2 achey arms🤣 Think we are in Priority Group 7 for the vaccine (healthy age 60-65), so we are well ahead of schedule🙂

It's recycling bin day tomorrow. Really hope they come. All recycling goes in the one wheelie bin which hasn't been emptied for 4 weeks due to a combination of Covid delays and then the snow - it's full to busting! The general waste bin has also been sat outside for a week and garden waste collection is suspended UFN. At least we don't have to play chase-the-recycling-box up the road.🤭

My little furry friend from next door has just popped in to see me. Such a little sweetie and the cuddles don't cost a penny in vet or cat food bills🙂
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
  • Hello All

SB, It seems like I confused a few of you with my occupation 🤣🤣

Talking of bins, we have bin day count down to the weekend where I work. Mine is on a Wednesday, which is the hump of the week and a couple of others fall on Thursday and Friday. We dont say days (eg Friday we say whose bin day it is) . It's a recent thing, must be pandemic working that makes us a bit daft 🤣🤣 I hope your bin gets emptied TP tomorrow. My garden bin is full already. I have paid for this years subscription today as the garden waste collections start beginning of March and once you pay, it takes a few days to get on to the rota and I knew if it wasn't done when thinking about it I would have realised too late.

Keep your eyes out for the little pickled onions Chive. In our Lidls, they near the tins of vegetables. They also do big jars of gherkins (they are together on the shelf) delicious.

Blue bells, I love watching the birds too. I find them fascinating.

Afternoon everyone. I did a bit more in the garden today. I forgot to say that yesterday, when doing my cutting back near the pond, I disturbed a rather large frog or toad from under one of the edging stones. It slid into the pond so quickly I couldn't decide. I think the fact that it went into the pond makes me edge towards 'frog'. I was so happy to see it and I'm hoping for frog or toad spawn later. I scrubbed all the birdbaths until they were squeaky clean and filled them up with nice, fresh water for the birds. Hoppity came down for a look. I had two goldfinches on the feeders in the front garden too until the boisterous starlings arrived and took over.
PR - gherkins as well - heaven!

  • Evening everyone,
Topbird I’m pleased to hear your jab went well yesterday, combined with the physio it’s a shame it’s left you with two aching arms though. Our recycling box is a daft idea it has a removable lid, so you can imagine on a breezy day the two often part ways after it’s been emptied 🙄
PurpleRose Bin day countdown to the weekend is a good idea 😀 I was kicking myself for not remembering those pickles! Next time I go I’ll be sure to look thank you,
LB You have been busy, what wonderful news that you have discovered a resident frog or toad. Enjoy a well earned rest this evening, put your feet up, Goodnight.
@Songbird-1 Hazel So good you’ve been able to get out and plant the Pittosporum I bet the ground was lovely to work. I’m enjoying the half term break this week, we will wait to see what happens next week but the expectation is that the numbers of children will go up. I agree the teachers should be given vaccinations, it would protect them and their families it makes a lot of sense. Glad you are feeling better 🤗
    Have a nice evening everyone.
