My foray into growing flowers has been interesting, frustrating and doomed by this cold spell. I seeded 2 trays of trailing lobelia for the baskets and they look like cress
However, the 'spare' dirt I used to top up the citrus trees last autumn which has been watered regularly, fed with citrus feed and in an unheated greenhouse all winter has produced lush 1' long lobelia plants
Making up the baskets now, just hope the lobelia plays ball.
"The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it." Sir Terry Pratchett
Bencotto how lovely. Me, rain, AND I just nipped down the garden to put the plants back in the green house, so feeling smug. Did my washing, got it out by 8,so it dried and is nicely folded and in the airing cupboard. If I had done either of these things at a different time, would have had wet washing and got soaked. Ha,it can rain all it likes now, because I can't take the dogs out because one had anaesthetic yesterday,so conservatory glass of vino and book
I had to move all my Hostas when we were having buidling work done. I put them all back a week or so ago and rigged up the irrigation system. I can almost watch them grow with the combination of watering and slightly warmer weather.
I've been putting out various items as Free to Good Home in my garage driveway over the road so not really visible from my house. The old Chimney pot and a stone vase disappeared quickly - no idea who took them. The next batch - 2 cast iron urns which I had refurbished and a metal bird bath also disappeared within 24 hours. I was quite pleased but even more delighted when a card was posted thru my door saying Many thanks for the urns and bird bath and assuring me that they had found a good home. Quite made my day.
Bit too far for you @B3 otherwise you'd be more than welcome.......... a couple of gravestones ? got a bit of a boat left too - if we get the promised rain, I could maybe float it over to you

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
