  • Yes, I realise how lucky I am!  We get them in the garden too, on the much-too-big conifer.  Definitely a reason to keep it...   :)

My RTBC today is that after a long battle through three individual stages of the HMRC complaints process, the Adjudicator's Office (a government body) has found in my favour and instructed HMRC to write and apologise to me and to send a £100 redress payment  :)

Re goldcrests, we see them frequently in the branches of a Scots pine outside our bedroom window. In contrast, I have only seen about three goldfinches in the 16 years we have lived here. And not a single sparrow or starling in our garden. Sorry, that’s not a RTBC.

Many years ago, and during one winter only, we had loads of long tailed tits in the garden.  Lovely little birds and disappointing that they never returned.

OH's Blue Badge assessor told him this morning he should hear back in about 10 days time - fingers crossed.

My potted camellia is out in bloom - deep pink flowers, very attractive.

It’s a small pleasure but I have just finished wrapping the Christmas presents, something to which I devote quite a lot of attention. And yesterday I delivered all the Christmas village cards; it must have been about 50.

One RTBC here is that the Belgian and French don't do Xmas cards like the Brits so I now only send to family and very old friends in the UK.
