    What I am really struggling to understand, is why so many wealthy pensioners object to having to pay their license fee, but thing it is fine that poor young people should.

    The Christmas cacti is out,the Kangeroo Paw almost out. The scented orchid in the bathroom is so strong,you can smell it in the conservatory. Hosta, granddaughter sorted phone,sent message to hairdresser,got appointment, admitted it is early January
     It's 17c here, glorious blue sky and coffee will be taken outside!!

    whilst watching the value of their mortgage free home rise year on year when virtually nobody under 40 can afford to get on the property ladder

    Punitive taxes on second homes and foreign buyers would help. But I doubt there are many MPs with only one house.

    of course they have more than one home . WE, the taxpayers pay for the London homes: they're all on expenses

    They should use one of those empty office blocks to house them. Security would be cheaper too.

    they could move them into the hotels we no longer need for quarantine. 
    Good enough for us, so OBVIOUSLY they'd not complain about staying in them?
