Good morning PurpleRose - you snuckered in there It sounds as though your outlook is similar to mine. At least the ice all appears to have gone. I'll know better when it gets light.

Good Morning Rubee, Ante, PurpleRose & LB and all to follow,
Another grey day here, but I am pleased not to be seeing any frost.
Hope you all have a good day.Ā

    Morning all,

Wet and wild here so Scholes the Snowman is now a football-sized lump of ice sitting in the middle of a very wet lawn.

Morning Chive, Hazel and Biglad. I have been nagging my Ozzie brother for years to get WhatsApp on his phone and finally he has done the deed so I was able to have a video call with him this morning - even Lily got a look in. He was just starting to wind down at work. I told him that I would call later so that I could see my sis-in-law. How about this for a throwaway penultimate comment, 'It's cooling down here - only 31°C!' Grrrr!
As I suspected, all my snow, frost etc. has long gone. Poor Scholes Biglad. I have to say I'd be tempted to boot him. Tut, slap my wrist!
Hazel, sorry to hear that your OH has a bad back. He needs a hottie and some painkillers.

Morning all, a much better day here.Ā  No snow, no rain and a weak sun trying its best.Ā  No plans for today apart from putting cloth things in a machine.Ā  I've been spending most of my time planning how I'm going to organise the garden so I can grow some veggies.Ā  I've decided to get rid of the play house as it's in a really sunny bit of the garden and is basically used to store seat cushions as the boys aren't really interestedĀ  in it and the girls are a bit old for it now.Ā  I've ordered a couple of raised beds and have lots of pots I can use so I've been looking at the best crops to try.
Glad your brother finally saw the light @Ladybird4 What's App has been a godsend keeping in touch with Firstborn, Merrie and Mabel.
Hope the school day goes OK @Ante30
    Hazel hope OH's back improves
    Stay warm and safe folks.

    Afternoon all!
After very ugly morning we have sun. It's still freezing, but it's always better with sunshine.

Yvie,Ā pupils are still on winter break and we must go to school and make preparations for second term.Ā Plan was to return to normal school 18th January. Apparently, it will happen 1st february.

Hazel,Ā wish your OH quick recovery.Ā Let him rest few days.

It's time for cats dinner. After that tea, sofa and tv or book.Ā I had a quick visit to SM and bought tea.

    Afternoon everyone,
Hazel I’m sorry to hear your OH has a painful back, hope it improves soon,
Rosie I’m glad you slept well, hope you’ve had a good day,Ā
Ante Good news you got your Teabags today, cannot be without those,Ā
LB How wonderful having a WhatApp chat with your Aussie brother and sis in law, glad you persuaded him to do it…only 31° there šŸ„µšŸ˜€
Yvie Your garden plans sound exciting, something to look forward to be getting on with,Ā
My gardens looking looking scruffy, I need the ground to harden a little before I can get stuck in.Ā
    Have a nice evening everyone.Ā

Hoorah Ante! Teabag shortage saved by the SM. You cannot do without tea. I've just fed Lily and she is now asleep on the back of the sofa behind my head. I had to put her blanket up there for her.
Chive I actually managed to pull some plants out of my drive yesterday but it was way too cold then and today its just rained virtually all the time. The wind is blowing a hooley too. Another good reason to have stayed inside.

    EveningšŸ™‚
It’s been dry and sunny here and I thought I might do an hour outside. Thought again once I stuck my head out of the window. A stiff breeze was making ut feel very cold.

Might stand a better chance tomorrow - the ā€œFeels Likeā€ temperature should be up to 0C...

LB - the last time my SIL was moaning about 34 degree temps in Australia I pointed out it was nothing to complain about - it was 34 degrees here too. Only a slight difference - their’s was C and our was F šŸ˜Ž

Not much to report. MIL is probably going for her jab on Friday but she’s still very ambivalent about it all.Ā Curtains are nearly finished (just need to hand sew the hems) and OH now has a homemade fitted sheet for the odd sized, shaped mattress in his new toy (made from an old duvet cover). Keralen prawn and egg curry simmering on the hob.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
