I used to phone my Dad at the same time every evening to check he was awake to take his seizure meds and to say good night. I always rang him no matter where I was or what I was doing (picked a time when that would be possible).

I think routine is a very good idea in those circumstances. Comforting in itself. I'm sorry though, BL, that's a hard situation for you both  :/

My daughter's home safe and sound with her car jammed with 'stuff'. Her brother's also turned up for a quick early Sunday dinner which is doubly pleasing.

I hope everyone is ok this evening. Just finished a lovely chicken dinner and there’s a fresh crumble for later. The best roast parsnips I have done for ages - probably because I put in a big wedge of butter 😋. I hope you enjoyed your Sunday dinner with family Lizzie.

We had a lovely time,@AuntyRach, my son has just left to go home, daughter is unpacking and her cat is busy exploring. We think we'll have to get a cat harness to take him out in the fresh air, I don't think it's fair to keep a cat inside and he usually roams over Dartmoor.  I'm exhausted with emptying wardrobes and and drawers to make room for her stuff. I have a fellow feeling with @Busy-Lizzie now. Downsizing is all very well except when you have people to stay.

Morning all. It’s sunny and cool here this morning. Pixel is lying near my feet and I’m thinking about getting up. Not too enthusiastic though.

Been quite busy today. Sorted through bedding, duvets, pillows. Made piles of what's ancient and going to the tip and what's coming to the new house.
Finished cleaning out the stable and put rubbish for the skip along one wall and stuff I want to keep on the other wall. Rubbish pile is bigger.
Swept leaves from the kitchen terrace yet again but only done half of it so far. The lime tree makes such a mess, this is the 4th sweeping.

    Goodnight all.

Hello again. Pixel and I have been out for our morning walkies and nibbling grass (her, not me) 😁 and now back inside for breakfast (both).  Sleep well everyone.

Good morning all, I loved your starting chat Dove,(as always) Let's hope life can return to some sort of normality "once in a blue moon" eh.  What happened to "are you awake".  I was up at 4.30, (am sure the time used to show on these posts) First lot of washing on, economy 7, forcast rain, so sadly it's got to be the tumble dryer.  Bedding towels, first, I have lots of throws, on the sofas, and beds, as well, plus the dogs blankets. Grandkids to stay in the school half term so double the normal washing, anyway. Intending to go shopping at 7.45, to be outside shop at 8 am opening, then quick nip into town.  Monday morning 9 am is always the quietest time anyway. Ordered some Autumn Bliss rasberry canes, a couple of roses, bare root, so 3 for the price of a potted job, (well, that's my excuse. I have been in a couple of fires, one at home as a child, one when I was 18, temp job in a packing factory, the factory was on the first floor, loading bay underneath, only was down metal exterior staircase, machine right next to it caughter fire.  This was 1969, no fire training or any healthy and safety in those days.  My neighbour, double locks her porch and then her front door, even when they are in the garden, they lock the back door, when some of them are in.  Asked him if they had had a burglary or anything, he laughed said no, she is just paranoid.  No way I would want to be locked in.
