@Busy-Lizzie - is your OH ok though? For supplies etc? I know you said you got deliveries when you were here, so presumably he can continue with that? At least the phone, the t'interweb are there to make it easier, although I can understand your worries, especially when he's lame. Are there neighbours who can check on him too?Ā  My sis will be relying on that a bit more this Christmas, as two of her children don't live here, although one isĀ  down south. They're all well and healthy, which is what matters though.Ā  :)
I think the takeaway cakes is a great idea @D0rdogne_Damsel . Good luck with those - perfect for the time of year, and for cheering people up, even if it adds more calories to the daily intakeĀ  ;)
    I wonder if @AuntyRach has moved yet. Laze mare...I don't know.... :D
I managed to stay dry today on the walk. Timed it nicely as the rain came on once I got in, as forecast. Just normal gale force windsĀ  today, so almost barbecue weather...

Thanks for your concern, @Fairygirl. OH can go to the SM before Thursday, he uses the trolley to lean on and he has a sit on mobility scooter and a disabled card for the car. After that Morrisons should deliver, at worst, click and collect. I just worry that he could fall. He was so fit before this hip business, walked a lot.

That would be my worry @Busy-Lizzie - a fall. It's why I wondered if you had neighbours who might call in to see he was ok each day, or something similarĀ  :)
I always worried about my Dad when he was on his own, but he was so fiercely independent, and would have hated people 'checking on him', so it was always a bit delicate. I'm afraid I'm the same, and it isn't always a good thing.Ā Ā

The neighbours on each side are older than he is, but next door but 2 keeps an eye on everyone and did shopping last lockdown for old lady next door.

Tell him to keep his mobile in his pocket all the time. I do now. I wish I’d had it with me when I fell and broke my foot Ā šŸ™„ šŸ¤—Ā

Great to have that then @Busy-Lizzie, and the phone is definitely a good idea, as @Dovefromabove says.Ā  :)

His mobile doesn't have a signal in our villageĀ  :/

  • Hmm @Busy-Lizzie ... possibly worthwhile getting a cheap pay as you go phone to keep in his jacket pocket ... I can confirm that Virgin gets very good coverage in your garden. šŸ‘Ā

Or could you get one of the emergency alarm buttons? You'd need to go to the doc for it, but I expect in the circumstances, he would be a suitable recipient. You wear them on a wrist or round your neck.Ā
