Perhaps I a go to the supermarket at the ' wrong ' time of day but I've never witnessed anything like that.
We shop during the day. Maybe the Morlocks  come out later.😒

Trouble with big organisations is that those who sit in offices never back up those on the sharp end dealing with the general public.  I took great satisfaction telling one asshole who expected to jump the queue and then harassed me get his own way, to p off somewhere else and get them to do it.  The area manager was not impressed when the inevitable complaint went in.

I can't find the relevant thread but someone said that children's food vouchers might be abused.
So what. Feed the hungry children first and then go after the lowlife😡

@Klink, if you can afford it, do it. Life's too short to put up with stuff like that. As has been said, l'm sure you won't regret it. I took early retirement having dithered about it for ages. Best thing l ever did  :)
Ditto.. workplace stress rarely gets better of fixes itself. HR in my experience are useless. The only guarantee is that trying to pass it off or "deal with it" will make you ill. I know.
My advice would normally be "get out" obviously Covid complicates things in many ways but if you can, do.
Walking out of that office after 22 years was liberating. I'd do it again in a heart beat.
I don't miss the work or 95% of my colleagues, many of which I've worked with all that time - which probably sounds sad but its true.

If the government really believe that there are significant numbers of parents in the UK who dont prioritise the well-being of their children and spend their income, from whatever source, on their own wants rather than on their children’s needs wtf have they slashed the funding for Surestart? 😡

Some of the vouchers i've seen have certainly been abused. Not sure what the answer is though. You can't expect checkout staff to police these things.

@Klink 🤗. If it might be a bit early to retire, what about looking around to see what other opportunities there are out there?

I know the jobs market is tough at the moment (i have family looking) but there might be some little niche out there just waiting to be filled by a Klink ... even if it’s on a s/e basis.

Being shouted at is not a great way to spend your working days... trust me, I was an expert at it 🙄

You're right. Maybe the vouchers should be for specific items. Fruit voucher. Vegetable voucher. Healthy cereal voucher etc
Maybe the schools could get the vouchers and feed the children. Breakfast before school. Lunch ,and tea before they go home. I know it's not their job but you can't teach a hungry child.
