Isn’t it strange how words and phrases suddenly gain traction? So, super, heads up, loving it, year on year, re-double, going forward, reach out, double down ... over use renders them annoying.

  • If I hear ‘up tick’ many more times I may well throw something at the lawn and dent it! 😠

"going forward' makes my brain hurt. Loathe it with a passion.
[Or is that a super passion ?]
That's probably an equally annoying phrase too  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I agree.  People are "super busy" or their skin is "super dry".  What's wrong with "very"?

It's super cool to say super

It so isn't 😊. It's, like, so annoying.
Feeling curmudgeonly as it's raining and blowing a hooley and l want to get out in the garden.

@Allotment Boy - get an ad blocker!

Our forecast says light rain.   Wrong!  And windy with it.  Good job I have indoor hobbies and jobs to do too or I'd be feeling mightily curmudgeonly today.

The best use of super was a headline in The Sun 20 years ago when Caledonian Thistle pulled off a shock 3:1 cup win over mighty Celtic:
Super Caley go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious.

To be fair, true credit lies with the Liverpool Echo in the 1970s after Ian Callaghan scored a hat trick against QPR. Super Cally goes ballistic, QPR atrocious.

I put my post code into the memory of the BBC weather app. In error, I added another one with my town name. They come up with differing forecasts😲

  • Mine does that sometimes @BenCotto. Someone says it’s cos we’re on the edge of the city and near the marshes,  sometimes we’re on the cusp of two areas.
