@steephill - nothing would tempt me to try and find out about the mushrooms :D
Maybe you just have a plentiful supply of berries there @floralies ;)
I think it's been a particularly good year for many berrying plants. The hawthorns round here are laden, although some of the rowans have suffered a bit from the very dry early spring we had. There's a few near me which are usually beautiful, and they're looking really poor just now.

There’s an amazing crop of hips and haws on the hedgerows this year, thanks to the sunny spring and early summer ... the birds are taking full  advantage ... I think some of the thrush migrants are here already so they’re helping to strip the hedges.

The jays are busy too ... yesterday OH watched one planting an acorn under our multistemmed amelanchier ... I can’t find it so I’ll have to keep my eyes open for when it germinates and pull it out, or it’ll cause problems growing just there.

@steephill I think someone’s trying to hide norfolk ... what was a bright and clear morning is getting thicker and damper by the minute ... think our woodland walk is off ... and it’s too damp to plant the crocus and Iris rets too. 😞

Morning all, somebody has stolen Surrey. Very foggy this morning and we can't see the other side of the valley. In fact we can't even see much of Sussex either :D

Pleased to report that Surrey is still here, if a trifle misty 🤣

Chicklet is home for a week’s holiday (luckily we are all still in Tier 1).  Looking forward to having her round.  Today we are going to “pick our own” broccolli and pumpkins.  She laughed at my homegrown attempts at giant pumpkins this year ☺️  Only marginally bigger than our apples .....think I should have watered more in the dry spells 🤣

Hope they make good soup 🥣

They look great @chicky - it's a hard school with your daughter!  :D
A few nice pots of soup with those. Roast veg with Chinese 5 spice was always one of my faves with pumpkins/squashes. I might have to make that soon.

Got the five spice @Fairygirl.  And this year I will remember to roast the pumpkins before souping them ....last years efforts were a little bland 🙄

It's a lovely soup - and so easy. I just use whatever I've got. Onions and carrots [always] a red pepper [for colour] is good too. I sometimes do it with sweet potatoes, but they can be a bit overpoweringly sweet when roasted. Plenty of spices needed if I use them  ;)

Pleased to see that where we live has the second highest tree coverage of anywhere in the UK - yay 👏🏻👏🏻🌳🌲🌳

Morning all, Somerset's looking good today, although rather cloudy. Hoping to get out later but must do some h....w..k first, little sis is coming to stay overnight on her way to her daughter who's in need of some help with her twins and her 3 yr old.
We're debating whether to pop up next week and see my younger brother at Stoke who's got severe heart problems. We haven't seen him since last year.  It would need another overnight hotel stay though so I'm hesitating. Don't want to push our luck too far. Stoke is not locked down yet and neither are we so at the moment it's doable.
