Afties all. Just in from a delicious meal out with handy brother. Lovely, friendly staff. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I am now full as an egg and will not need any more food today.
Chive, isn't that just typical! Cars are so perverse! Mind you I have had that same experience with VM and my box. The problem disappears just as the engineer knocks on the door!
Ruby I hope that your OH is managing to get a rest this pm. Sorry to hear he had a disturbed night.
Hazel, car is due in the middle of this month - so any day at all now! How is your arm today? Hope the stiffness has worn off. I've seen the Battle of Britain Hazel. Saw it in 2010 when it was first shown. I'm going to watch the Flying for Britain programme which is brand new. About the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
T'Bird you have created a wonderful picture in my mind

  • Afternoon LB great picture 😂 Pleased you had a nice meal & filled to the brim jolly good. Yes these things do have a way of miraculously disappearing as soon as you call someone out. Never mind, on a good note my sons car went through it’s MOT today without any problem, so he’s a very happy chap.
I’m idling again, must get going have a nice afternoon.
  • Sorry Hazel missed your post, I know it’s really hard to do anything much in this weather isn’t it 🥵 I hope your arm improves soon 💪

Hazel, that programme is on ITV at 20:00 - 21:00. David Jason meeting them. It is only 23°C here with a 76% chance of rain! Wild Caryopteris come with white or pink flowers so maybe you have the wild types in your garden.
Chive, is that the birthday boy's car? Its always a relief when a car comes through its MOT without the engineers giving a sharp intake of breath followed by a steep bill!

  • Yes LB he’s my one and only and an aspiring mechanic so all credit to him for keeping his car in good order 👨🏻‍🔧

Glad your son’s car passed it’s MOT Chive. Mine is now of the age where I cross my fingers a bit when it goes for it’s annual.

Lunch sounded good LB. I shan’t be watching the Ewan M programme as he’s not a favourite presenter but I shall be watching the programme on BBC4 which is the B of B story from a German view looking at Luftwaffe diaries etc.

Is anyone watching the series about Dennis Nilsson? David Tennant got some excellent reviews for playing the role. I’m recording it to watch later this week.

Been very warm here today - glad it’s cooling down now! We haven’t had any rain for a couple of weeks - some would be welcome.

Hi everyone, it's been a beautiful day here but haven't been in the garden.  I've spent most of the day organising mums funeral, at least it's kept me busy.  Most of it's done now.  Most things are being done electronically now, so no need to go to register the death, even the arrangements with the funeral director are done via the phone.  Just have to go in a sign a few forms etc.
More bad news arrived today, my neice called me to say her son has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and will have an operation on Thursday, he's only in his early 30's.  My other neice (her sister) has been in touch from Australia to say that her son has been admitted to hospital after taking an overdose.  I can't really believe all this is happening.  It's getting to the point when I expect the phone to ring with bad news every day.
Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands

T'Bird I'm watching Des. Its a hard watch so far but no spoilers. DT is superb. I think I've seen that other programme before too. I watched the Ewan McGregor one in 2010 but didn't like it as I thought he just used it as a platform to show himself off.
Good grief Yvie. Your family are really going through the wringer at the moment. So sorry to hear about your niece's son. Hopefully that will have been caught early. Sad, too, to hear about the Australian niece's son. I hope that is the last bad news you will hear for a while. Make sure you look after yourself.
