Feeling crippled today, took several minutes to hobble down the stairs.
Livid with my GP surgery, phoned yesterday about my flu jab and they have decided that this year it will be totally based on age, so I can't have one until the end of October / early November. I explained was at high risk and had been ordered to isolate during lockdown, and was informed that was irrelevant.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
'The main requirement is an indelibly-marked label so that, 2 years on, you're not scratching your head and wondering what you've grown.' Oh - I never have that problem @Liriodendron. Aye right... Funnily enough, I do have a couple of little hawthorn seedlings kindly deposited by the birds, and I'm letting them grow. There's already a little bit of hawthorn out at the back of the boundary, so if I can get rid of the ash stump that's still trying to rear it's ugly head, I can maybe add these to that bit. Positively tropical here compared to you - it's 7. I love this weather. I enjoy it so much when we get it, because it's so pleasant after lots of wet, windy stuff. @punkdoc - that's very poor - surely? If you're someone at risk, I thought it was pretty automatic that you got it. Daughter was asking me the other day if I was getting one, and I said no. I said I don't feel I need one, and I also thought there could be shortages this year, and I wouldn't want to deprive someone else. The next day there was a headline saying exactly that. I suppose it was inevitable.

For anyone who likes Monty (look away now Hostafan) and has a Times subscription there is a lovely article about him in todays paper. He gives more information about his life and family than I have ever known before ......well worth a read @punkdoc 😀
Sent away to a brutal boarding school at 7, cancer diagnosis aged 10, plus bankruptcy, depression and his twin sister’s horrific accident. Monty Don tells Deborah Ross about a life that is far removed from the garden idyll that appears on our screens
It seems there's a shortage of the flu vaccine because of unprecedented demand ... the government has been telling us to have a flu jab so we've dutifully obeyed ... just like so many have dutifully tried to get Covid tests when told to ... seems the systems are being stretched.
I booked my jab in August and received it about 10 days ago at the local Boots chemist. OH is booked in for Monday. Son has been unable to get one so far despite the fact that he's waiting for an ENT op and won't be able to have it if he has flu or any congestion.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hello everyone. Just back from fetching the chucks so have neither heard nor seen any news. They are now safely ensconced in their new home - all huddled in one corner as tight as can be - with the door closed so they can get used to it and find the feeder and water. They have some bald patches but should recover their looks after they relax and feel at home. Two eggs laid already on the journey!
It is cool here and grey but set to brighten up and get to 17C which is OK. Sunny and 18C tomorrow. Cool enough to need jeans and a long-sleeved t-shirt and even socks for just hanging about so wardrobe change over this pm.
Better do something about lunch first.
Hugs to all who need one and hope you get your hill @Fairygirl without being blown off.

Fairygirl, hoast a bit more, (regarding the thinnish cardi) we took the dogs on the beach at 9.30, 14c, no wind at all on the beach, and not a cloud, people swimming, wearing shorts, and T-shirts, we sat on the beach, and benches further up,going towards the road, met the Mayor of Eastbourne, and his crew doing a 3 day litter pick, ironically, we pick litter every time we are on the beach.
@Nanny Beach - I have a real thing about litter, which is another reason I've been feeling very odd about going back on hills. There's been so much devastation all over the UK because of these people leaving rubbish. It's unforgiveable for people to be like this - anywhere, whether it's a beach, a park, our beautiful countryside or anywhere else. My children were taught at a very young age about litter. My mum once gave me a telling off for putting some rubbish/sweet wrappers in my jacket pocket, because she had to empty them before washing the jacket. I never understood that, even at my young age, although once I understood a bit more about my mum's problems, it made sense. However, it had a lasting effect on me, and I vowed I'd never tell my children off [if I had any] because if there are no bins [which was the case for me ] what else would you do? I'm proud to say my girls have always understood about littering, and my childhood story probably helped that Not quite shorts weather here, but lovely Great to have the chooks now @Obelixx. I was joking the other day about the swing - it was just the way you'd written it Have you watched the programme that Diarmuid Gavin did recently? Think it's called Gardening Together. I recorded it and have only watched a couple, but he gets chickens for his own property in one of the episodes. He gets a fancy schmancy hen house right enough! Not sure if you can get on the catch up doofer. It's the usual sort of mix, but pleasant viewing. I like him very much, although I know others don't. I like Monty's presenting style and his manner, but I no longer watch G's World for various reasons. I also don't really like Adam Frost. There - I 've said it....

I know @Fairygirl - just teasing back. I've been down to check them and 4 had made it off the bench and down to floor level so I've given them wee ladders to get p and down more easily to the bench with straw for sleeping on till they get up to the giddy heights of the perch and another tro the nesting boxes. Lots of chat so now I've left the shed door open so anyone feeling nosy can poke her beak outside but i've also closed the window shutter so it's dark in the sleeping end.
I have the Diarmuid programmes recorded but have been too busy to watch them yet.
I remember Adam from occasional appearances as a young apprentice on GW with Geoff H and I like his designs at Chelsea and his practical approach.
One of the things I've noticed about the beaches here is how clean they are, even after crowds have been on them but then it tends to be families here for the week or a more and plenty of grand-parents have holiday homes here - cottages or chalet parks - and have the kids for the school hols. No hills to speak of, just a few round bits but I haven't heard tales of abuses there either tho there's plenty of country and coastal walks and nature reserves about.
