@Fairygirl   Very little rain, indeed.  We've probably had 2 full days of decent rain in about 6 months.  The trouble is when it rains, the ground is so hard, it runs off and the water ways overflow.
    Thank you for asking.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

That's what so many folk here have had too @tuikowhai34. Especially in the south east of England. We've had a more standard summer up here with plenty of rain, after a couple of slightly drier ones.
I'm going to have to go up the farm road and check if the swallows are there. There was another thread about it recently, and I was sure ours were still around. Maybe they've gone though. They do flit around the houses here too, but I can't remember when I last saw them.

  • The temptation is to join in Dove but I think I'd be a tad more direct,  so had better resist!

Morning to everyone and sending love and hugs to you  Yvie x

Indeed @WonkyWomble, difficult though it is  ;)
I was contemplating a hill as it's lovely, and looking promising out west. My thighs are still making themselves heard though.
I was very impressed by Mr chicky and his swim. I forgot to say that. I'd just have had a paddle and the fish and chips   :)

    Hi all

Thoughts are with you today @Yviestevie.
Lovely picture of Corfe Castle @chicky. When I was a newly qualified Dr. I worked in Poole, and sometimes I used to drive out there in my little 2 seater to try and impress some lady. Problem is they were rarely impressed, and often far too much of a lady.

  • Often but not always surely @punkdoc? 😉

Today I shall be mostly making chutney ... there are chopped up huuuuuge courgettes, chopped chillies, onions and grated ginger in a big pan having been lightly salted overnight .... brown sugar and vinegar will be added shortly.

When I’m not stirring that lot and sterilising jars I will be making Cock-a-leekie for supper 😋

    Morning all.

I must get a move on, friends are coming to lunch and the kitchen is a mess.

Good morning all, looks like I have missed something on the Spam thread. Surely not someone being unkind to us 27's.
    Thinking of you today @Yviestevie
Just getting over a bout of Gastroenteritis or some such which has knocked me sideways for a few days, but have been reading all your news.
My son had a bad day with depression the other day, his pay goes down to half soon and insurance doesn't kick in yet, he was told he is not eligible for a flu jab and his very anxious about the rise in Covid, he thinks everything is a mess at the moment especially with his wife having chemo as well. I think it's worse at the moment because he doesn't see any friends to talk and laugh with.
Going on to other things I saw two Swallows here yesterday in the warm sun, I'm sure they will be gone soon.
OH has sown grass seed where he had to take out the fig tree and renew some drainage pipes, but the family Partridge have come into the garden, yes they love the grass seed!
I'm missing my nice strong coffee at the moment so will have to make do with a weak herbal tea for my elevenses in a minute.
