  • My gripe at the moment - the SM plastic milk containers are so thin, the handle part is buckling under the weight. We are having to support the base with the other hand to reduce the strain on the handle.  It's only a matter of time before one of us forgets & we end up with 4 litres of milk on the floor.

Still having trouble with my new smartphone but I'm sure my grandson will be able to show me how it works at the weekend.

The honours system makes me so cross.

How is it that Lorraine Kelly, lovely as she is and hasn’t to my knowledge put a foot wrong while working all those years on TV, gets a CBE for doing her job, whereas Marcus Rashford is awarded just a lowly MBE? Even worse are those BEM’s which don’t even warrant a trip to the Palace.

There’s the usual worthy ones and ones that make me smile (Sir Tommy Steele anyone!? 🥂) and the usual ones that furrow my brow.
There will always be anomalies in any award system, but the biggest is the word ‘Empire’ ... it’s no longer appropriate and many find it insulting, and with good cause ... if the Empire no longer exists then it’s time to remove the reference to it in the award system ... not to do so makes the award appear meaningless and irrelevant.
If the country is going to reward its citizens the award should be meaningful, not an anachronism ... that seems insulting to me ... like giving Monopoly money to a homeless person 🙄

I don't care for Lorraine Kelly much as far as tv goes, but frankly, as a young reporter, for covering two of the most hideous events this country has ever seen, she deserves all the respect I can give her.
    Dunblane and Lockerbie.
    That's all I'm saying.
