Rainy and pleasantly fresh morning here. I had a proper sleep last night. Nothing special to do today. Think it will be a perfect day for book and rest. Have a nice day all!
Morning Ante, that sounds like a very good plan for the day. Have a great time. I am still feeling seasick after watching the video you posted yesterday!

The forecast is bad. Terms like " storm surge" are being bandied about ie they are unsure how bad flooding will be along the coasts. They built well here and all houses are not at risk. Very quiet just now. It will kick off this afternoon/evening. Storm Ellen heading in to our west coast .The term " Highest Astronomical Tide" , an extremely rare coastal phenomenon, is being used.
Good morning all. Not had time to read back but hoping all is well with Island that storm warning sounds scary!
Work today then out for a curry with the girls from work tonight. I was out last night and Monday too and to be honest I can do without it. I miss my quiet nights in. Went for a lovely meal last night with fiancé, my sister and brother in law and Monday night it was daughter and oldest granddaughter all very nice and not expensive with the eat out offers but I would rather have been at home. I much prefer going out for lunch I suppose I am showing my age now! Plus it’s a large group tonight so I imagine that will cause issues and be less sociable than usual. Sorry to be cantankerous I just want an early night.
Morning all. Up earlier as OH is working today. He should be (flying) instructing all day until 7pm but, looking at the forecast, I suspect he’ll be finishing just after lunch☔️
Your weather doesn’t sound much fun Ireland - hope you and the cats can hunker down and keep safe. About 4 years ago we had an extremely rare (especially for inland E Anglia) red warning for wind. The actual event lasted all of 20 minutes but resulted in widespread loss of power, trees down, roofs off and a bus picked up and turned over. We were without electricity for 2 days and no land line phone or internet for 2 weeks. I really don’t like strong wind - find it most unsettling.
LB - you said yesterday that your parents lived in Malta. Was that a military posting? My dad was in the Marines and was posted out there during the Suez crisis. Mum went too and I was born in the military hospital there. Keep meaning to go and see what it’s like but haven’t got round to it (yet).
Debs - enjoy your meal tonight. I also prefer having lunch out rather than dinner. How is that outing being arranged with a large group from work? Our local restaurants are being very strict with the ‘no more than 2 households meeting inside’ rule. You may find you get split up and put on separate tables. That’s what’s happening here anyway.
Have a good day everyone. I’m going to do a bit in the garden this morning.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Topbird; like you I do not like these gales. Understatement. We have had red out here. It is so early in the year. We get less damage as these west coasts are used to being blasted. There are no trees, single storey houses etc. all built above sea level. We used to get power cuts then they laid the cables under the ocean. Only ever one power cut in my years here and there have been some bad storms! .
The noise gets phenomenal, and this time with the gale, the ultra high tides. I have seen roads submerged by what they call " spring tides" at all times of year. West Cork is already deep in floods.
Morning Debs and T'Bird. Debs I usually find that when I am not looking forward to anything I usually enjoy it. Hope that is the case for you today.
T'Bird, Dad and Mum decided to buy a place in Malta when Dad retired from the RAF. We had been on holiday there a few times and met some absolutely wonderful people and Mum and Dad had some American friends who were already living in Malta. They lived on a big estate called Santa Maria near to Mellieha Bay and it was great going out there for my summer holidays from school. I only had to find the air fare! Dad was in Egypt during the Suez crisis. I can recommend visiting Malta without reservation, the Maltese are the nicest people on the planet and they love the Brits. Their hospitality when Mum and Dad were there forged lifelong friendships and when Mum and Dad decided to come back home we had lots of visitors and we could show them the delights of Blackpool, the Lake District and fish and chips. You have made me want to go back now.
