  • All is quiet here; for now although there are gales forecast. That is what life here is about; the weather and all it brings. Like getting supplies in for when we are cut off. Everything revolves around the weather in so many ways. More so here than in many places. Bad weather = no ferries or chopper on the islands.

So different from life in many places where I have lived , but I love it and chose it .  Waited for it for a long time. Simplicity. And a challenge,. And the stark beauty of it.  Hoping today for my groceries, but if that is not so then I will dive into my set aside stocks which are enough to last a couple of months. I got a surprise supply package from a friend on boards,ie this week. just in time. lol.

If you want to see re Storm Ellen, got to weather.boards.ie. I am Graces7 there. It was quite a day and night!   and my weblog.

Cool and grey today.  As folk pick up the pieces, especially ESB working on power failures. Our cables  go under the ocean so are safe in gales

I have a glorious flower display in here; all that got felled in the gale. Lupins, gladioli.....there are more buds ready to open and still some peas to pick, and greens.

Stay well, stay safe in these turbulent  times.

    Morning everyone
Woke up just before 9 after having an almost sleepless night. The rain was lashing against the windows and the wind was howling all night and still is😱
Haven't looked out in the garden yet 😕
Looks like a lot of us could have chatted the night away. Think I'm going to have an easy day today. Hope everyone is ok weather wise.
And of course health wise too.
    Time for breakfast, take care.
    See you later

Morning. Blowing a hooley out there but probably nowhere near as bad as those in the south and west are enduring. The washing has taken about 10 minutes to dry....

Glad you had a good evening LB. Well done or bad luck on missing out on the 17th place prize depending on how you feel about it!

Island - Sounds as though you’ve been through the mill weather-wise. Hope your deliveries start again soon.

Hope all those who had disturbed nights manage a relaxing day and a little nanna nap this afternoon.

    Stay safe everyone.

Hazel let’s hope the plumber can save the day and sort the problem.  Sorry to hear that.  Topbird it’s wild out there today.

    Afternoon all!

Hazel, sorry to hear about leak. It's such bad luck and your kitchen ceiling will need time to get dry. Hope so that plumber can sort the problem.

Rosie, I'm glad that you feeling better now.

I didn't had any sleep today, but was slowly and easy morning so I'm also better. We indeed have a lot of troubles these days and this heatnes here is still annoying. I'm watching again Midsomer murders.

Afties all. T'Bird, we were not particularly bothered about just missing out on some money. Winning IS nice but we have such fun that we are happy to just be quizzing since March. Good grief Hazel, you are really not having any luck at the moment are you? I hope that the ceiling dries out well for you and you don't need to have it re-plastered. Did the plumber used compression joints with PTFE tape, or is there something even newer these days? Keep an eye on the kitchen ceiling and don't leave anything in the direct line of fire.
Ante, I have watched so many episodes of Midsomer Murders this lockdown that I can spot the regular recordings of the magpies (svraka) used in the stories!
Island, glad to hear that you haven't been blown away but it is a shame about your flowers.
