Wall's looking grand @chicky. Kudos to Mr chicky. You're forgetting - the Donald's already built the wall. It's a great wall. Great wall.....the greatest wall.... Hope all is well with daughter @Yviestevie. Difficult for you to relax. It'll be fine as long as you don't give the butterflies the key @Dovefromabove. Don't leave it under the mat whatever you do.... Rain stopped but I've really done sod all outside. You'd think it was my birthday
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hello all. What a handy lot you are! Cakes, walls, enclosures to keep the butterflies out, sawing off tree branches! We had an entertaining day yesterday, NDN lit a bonfire went indoors and thought it would die down on it's own accord absolutely not! I looked out the window to see flames and smoke gathering pace over our field and on into another field towards a hedgerow. Luckily we were all about so formed a chain with buckets and managed to extinguish it. OH has a bad back today after running with full buckets over rough ground. Just a polite "thankyou" from the neighbor, this is the second time it has happened.
How careless, and thoughtless, of him/her @floralies. Anyone can make a mistake, but twice? You'd think they might be a bit more humble and grateful as well. This is the problem when people take these ruddy barbecues into the countryside too. They have no idea of the damage caused, let alone the hassle for anyone having to extinguish them. As for the ones we've had up here cutting trees down in our national parks for campfires.... It's eventually been a proper autumnal sort of day. Bit of sun, and that cool, crisp change in the air we usually get early in August. Lovely. I've done nothing apart from deadheading, and feeding the pigeon.

Gosh, haven't we all been busy today! Great cake @Fairygirl, great wall @chicky and proper job @Dovefromabove. We've been busy as well, dismantling an old asparagus bed in a builders crate - didn't work well and we found out why - absolutely bone dry, all the way down. Dug out a square metre of soil, with difficulty, I was in danger of falling in! I want to build a 2nd leaf bin in it's place, so we have one 'cooking' and one for the autumn leaves, which are already falling here. Need to pick up some more fencing pins tomorrow to make the cage.
Now I've got lamb to roast and apple crumble to make.
I looked out to see a lovely sunset then noticed that the roe doe was settled down under the apple tree and was nodding off. Wonderful to know that wild animals feel safe to sleep just metres from where we are drinking wine following a Sunday roast. All might not be right with the world but our little patch is doing OK.

I've just taken a wardrobe of too small clothes to the Emmaus charity bin. I loved some of them but I will probably never take size 10 or 12 again.
