Something lovely just happened. I was up in the woodland weeding and a man peered over the wall and commented on the garden. I asked him whether he wanted to walk round it, which we then did and he was so complimentary about.
I was thrilled, but also thought, this is the worst it has looked for years, with so many things stopping me gardening this year.

That is so lovely @punkdoc :D  I think sometimes we have to see our gardens through another's eyes to really appreciate them ... we have an image of perfection in our own heads that we're striving to attain ... a visitor takes it at face value and appreciates it for what it is, not knowing how far short of our ambition it falls   :)

Help yourselves - before the hordes get it...

Not quite @D0rdogne_Damsel's standard I'm afraid, as the puree is leaking out the sides, but it all goes the same way  ;)

Rain's gone orf, so I might get some lunch and do the deadheading
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Count me in @Fairy!!!
    Managed to catch up.
Been busy in the garden all day... just realised how tired I am so a cup of tea and a snooze I think.
So sorry to hear about your Father in law  @Auntyrach. Best wishes to your whole family.
    @Pdoc, that's a lovely thing to happen!
Wonderful news here... Flatters the cat whose kidneys were the size of golf balls, is suddenly completely better!!! He had been on vet prescribed diet for a week and was improving but kidneys were still huge and he was grumpy. Then I put him on spring water instead of tap. Literally better after 2 days! Kidneys went to normal size overnight!
We do have some of the worst water in the country here in Ipswich so thought it worth a try...17p a bottle from lidl is cheaper than vet bills!!  :)
Hope everyone is having a restful Sunday

Icing would spoil that cake, @Fairygirl.  Not sure there'll be any left for your daughters at this rate...   :)

Whoops, sorry... hello folks.  All this talk of food has gone to my head...

Need to nip out and pick blackberries before it rains again.  Then there are more windfall apples to prepare, cook and freeze before our weekly WhatsApp video call with our son and family.  Apparently our 2-year-old grandson is desperate to show us his new Paddington bear, a large version which he can dress and undress, with real red wellies, much to his delight.   :)

It may be some time before we can get hold of a tree man to deal with our fallen rowan.  There are many more trees in more urgent need of attention, and we have another gale warning for Tuesday - so I've been out there with the pruning saw, trying to reduce the tree's smaller branches.  It's interesting to see the variety of mosses and lichens, formerly growing at a height but now near enough to admire.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Hi folks,  Lots of talk about food is making me very hungry.  Have some pasta for dinner tonight, never bother much when Hubby is away.  Haven't done much today, popped to the garage to fill up and pick up a few bits and bobs from the shop.  Have fed and watered the pots and the birds and that's about it really.  Haven't heard from Secondborn today so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is OK.
