    Hi all

Dreich and drismal here, but lovely to be at home doing nothing.

Really interesting background about the BBC weather @raisingirl ......hope they go back to the Met Office when the contract comes up for renewal.  In the meantime I will just stop using them and go direct to the Met Office instead.

@floralies hope your news takes a turn for the better soon.  Hugs 🤗 in the meantime.

Very excited that my salvia cuttings (caradonna and Amistad) have all rooted, so will pot them up today.  Does anyone know what I do with the Amistad ones over winter?  Will an unheated greenhouse be ok, or am I going to have to invest in a greenhouse heater sooner than I anticipated?

Morning all/afties @Pat E. Keep cosy. The bluebells will be just the ticket  :)
I'm waiting excitedly to see @Biglad on the telly box. Presumably with a large hat during Ascot..... :D
Good to see you @raisingirl - you've been 'away' a while. The funny thing about the wumman and the dug was just how flustered and vociferous she was about it 'pulling her' around. I just expected something on the large side  :D
@floralies - what a hideous time you're all having. Surely that's more than your share of crap now  :/
@Obelixx - they were warned about going on holiday, that things might change. They need to suck it up. Is it just me, or is there a touch of irony that this all happened on and around the VJ Day anniversary? People need a serious reality check.
Cool and cloudy here. Same pattern as the last few days, but I don't think there's to be any sun today. Still a lot of people short of water in the south. The random nature of thunderstorms too. We've had plenty to do us for a wee while. Still lots of problems with roads disappearing, and the Union Canal over on the Dark Side, with it's large hole. It's going to be several weeks before the R&BT road is open too. I feel so sorry for all the businesses further on which have just opened and are trying to salvage something.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

@chicky, S.amistad does fine in a cold greenhouse here.

Hello all. I have been peeping in but it’s busy here as Dad-in-law deteriorated this week so we needed to help out until the carers started. Wonderful NHS though - we got a hospital bed, equipment and carers within a few days. For any of you who have had to deal with the awful pain of how dementia destroys a person - big hug from me.

On a brighter note, just had a big brunch and hoping to see niece’s puppy later. If it stops drizzling then I’ll potter outside. My borders are looking a bit Autumnal (ie. a bit scruffy in places).

    Take care you lot.

Off to bed now. Hubby has the thermos ready for yet another a power free day tomorrow while the lines are worked on. 😡. Might need to go to town for entertainment.
    Night all.

@floralies ... rant away ... think you're entitled ((many hugs))

    @WonkyWomble ... it wasn't your brother who did it ...  :#

I can hardly believe it ... we have 12 Moonlight runner beans (a white flowered runner x french self fertile type).  We've been picking several times a week since mid July ... currently we're picking at least every other day ... this morning I picked almost two kilos ... I need a bigger freezer.

    Sleep tight @Pat E 🛌

Hardly a rant @floralies like the others I think you have to let it out somewhere better here than anywhere else.
Very muggy & humid here not done much today I think yesterdays spud bashing was enough for one weekend. Finally emptied the kids paddling pool so we now have a "crop circle" on the lawn.
