@Obelixx this is the 3rd (and hopefully last!) garden grave that I dig and I plant something on top that reminds me what lies beneath. Hopefully, that also stops me inadvertently digging up the remains at a later date! The white-flowering japonica rarely graces us with the desired reminder (white bunny) but at least it is flourishing otherwise. A thornless blackberry bush is going to mark the latest burial (black bunny).
brrr. I’ve been hanging washing on the line this morning and it looked ok. Just coolish and a little overcast. By the third load of washing, I was standing in very strong wind and light freezing rain. 😡. I assume it’ll be out all night, yet again. The Bureau of Met. were predicting heavy snow for Thredbo etc, but I didn’t believe them. 😂. Serves me right you’re probably all saying.
After reading about your pet burials, I decided to investigate the site where my darling little miniature poodle is buried. She is under a concrete paving stone and I had originally planted violets around it, but I’ve realised that I haven’t seen any violets for some time (probably the drought). So, as it just happened that I had dug some Spanish Bluebells (which had bullied their way into a pathway) recently and hadn’t yet decided where to put them. The upshot is that I’ve started to plant them around her area. It won’t matter if they take over the area down there. I had to stop when the freezing rain started.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ and hello @Pat E 👋 the bluebells will be pretty 😊
It’s overcast and slightly misty here ...they’re telling us we’ll have storms and heavy rain before long ... but they’ve been saying that for the past couple of days ...
I was woken earlier by the chickens two gardens up the rise, making an announcement 🐓 🥚
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Bit of rain overnight in deepest, darkest Lancashire and it looks like there will be more today (my own forecast based on staring up at the sky!)
Seems like good timing as I've finished digging out the solid clay/stones border to about 18-20 inches. I've got rid of a chunk of the resulting mound and started to break up and mix the rest with some manure, compost and sand.
As well as incorporating the bunny grave, the 'new' border now has a growing medium which will hopefully be suitable a good fruit harvest next year.
