  • The sun is trying to break free of the clouds. I don't have a washing line; the sheets are safely draped over the big gate. Much safer in high winds.

Morning Rubee, Will be going to see mum today and the SM later on, hope you have a good day,
LB How rotten it’s bad enough to be wet from the top, treat yourself to a nice hot drink and cozy up with Lily after breakfast,
T’bird I like Catchphrase I’ll try that technique next time, who knows what I’ll come up with 🙂
    Have a good day.

Chive I have to 'fess up - it did make me laugh! I'm warm and snuggly now. One nice thing was that 'sco car park was completely open. The last time I went in March they had it all coned off - one way in and one way out and I was expecting that today but I needn't have been concerned. It was reassuring to just be able to get parked up and walk into town without any restrictions. The car park was a bit fuller on my return.

LB It’s not so bad when you can laugh at these things. It’s good to get out early a much better experience, sounds like things are returning to some normality there.

    Morning everyone,
Rained through the night and still raining. Wish summer would come back.
Had a lovely surprise yesterday morning, there was a knock on the door and there stood my two little poppets with their mummy and Daddy 🥰🥰  We were lucky with the weather yesterday that although a cloudy day it was warm enough to be in the garden. Had a lovely time, but sad to see them go.
Looking forward to seeing youngest poppet this week when he has his 1st birthday 🎉🎉
I have cloth things in the spinning thing,  which will have to be put on the airer in the conservatory, flippin weather 😉
Oh heck LB sorry you got splashed by the loose paving, but thankfully you didn't trip on it. Glad all went well with your appointment. Agree hate appointments late morning/early afternoon, ruins the whole day.
Thank you for the quiz answers LB, I didn't do too bad.
Have a good day everyone, take care.

Afternoon folks,  It's throwing it down here.  I'm planning on staying indoors and sorting out cloth things that need to be cleaned.  Hubby is in the conservatory conducting guitar lessons over the internet so I'm in the sitting room keeping myself amused.  Not been feeling great over the last few days as have a few family issues.  Spent a lot of time in the garden yesterday cutting back ivy hedge and mowing/edging lawns.  Ordered a few plants last night to fill in some gaps (always end up doing that when I need cheering up).  Have a nice outing planned tomorrow with Bestie.  We will be visiting Hidcote and Kiftsgate, love both so looking forward to it.
Firstborn is at the villa in Menorca so will be facing a two week lockdown on her return unless the government actually look at the numbers of Covid cases on the islands and realise that they have only had a handful of cases throughout the pandemic.  It will cause quite a few problems for them as they are teachers and due back at work in a couple of weeks (contrary to popular belief they do not get 6 weeks off in the summer).  They have had a horrible 2020 so far dealing with lots of problems at school with very little support and no PPE.  Firstborn has been especially stressed as she is responsible for safeguarding.
@Songbird-1 hope the garage sort it out for him.
    Stay well @islandanchoress
@Ladybird4 have to admit I did snigger at the image of you and paving slab but hope you're all dried out and snug now.
Hope everyone else enjoys the rest of the day.
Hi from Kingswinford in the West Midlands
  • re washing and ?dirty rain!" Irish rain is far wetter and more plentiful than anywhere else! We drink it! And out here the gales blow any pollution away. The times I was going over to shop I really noticed the difference even in villages. Love it!

Afties all. As I sit here watching the rain thrashing down outside I wonder if anything else can go awry. 10:25 power cut. I have a number I can call as I am a priority service customer and I got a message to say that they were aware of the cut - which was very localised as only 446 houses were affected - but not to worry as their dedicated team was on the case and my power would be on at 13:24. I was not to worry if it flickered on and off for a while either. It only went off again once but whatever caused the power cut also fried VM and I had no TV or t'internet. That should be sorted by 15:50 and I could go on to their website (hello! I have no access because the router and everything else is failing to work). I dashed across the road to let Jack know but he had neglected to wear his hearing aids so despite my hammering on his front door and then his conservatory door there was no response. His next door neighbour was just getting back from the paper shop so he asked if there was a problem. I was able to fill him in on the power front and then made a last attempt to get Jack to hear me. Eventually I saw him through the glass - having had an 'eyeball' with Kitty through the window - and I was able to fill him in too.
Island - Jack is my ex cat sitter and Kitty is his cat who I looked after for him.
SGL, what a delightful surprise for you. I bet it really did bring a smile to your face. Hazel, I'm pleased to hear that your son will get that car problem fixed. Yvie, I'm sorry to hear you haven't felt too chipper and I'm glad my paving slab episode made you smile. I can totally empathise with your Firstborn as well as I used to get cross with people who assumed my work day was finished when I went home at 16:00. I think a lot of us have had a terrible 2020 so far.

Afternoon All, SM done and put away now it’s time for a cuppa,
LB Oh crumbs what a palaver! what with your soggy start, power cuts and now the internet loss, this day has been a challenge to say the least. Jack must have been blissfully unaware of all the disruption,
Lily Aww what a wonderful surprise for you to see your lovely poppets yesterday, I bet they were just as excited to see you both too. The first birthday for littlest poppet has come round very quickly  🤗
Hazel pleased to hear that your sons car will be put right what a worry. Always unsettling to see familiar people move, hopefully it will attract a nice new owner. Thank you yes mum is doing fine thank you, she has started to venture out a bit more now so feels more independent.
Yvie sorry to hear you have been feeling low, such difficult times we are in and any upset in the family is more than enough to cope with. How are your eyes now, have they improved with the treatment?
Right must continue with some more activity, have a nice afternoon.
