Oh, a few years back, youngest daughter had camera on the PC, I walked by in my undies, the computer desk was in the utility room, most likely on my washing to the washing machine, (doing a Nick Cayman) she said "Muuuum", bloke seeing (me) said something rather naughty but complimentary, comprising of 4 letters!  My best friend who didnt swear, saw it written somewhere and asked me what it meant.

My walking boots are 8 years old and have given me a couple of thousand miles of walking in that time. They might not be waterproof anymore but still have a few years of summer use left in them.
My oldest boy is only two and has just worn through his second pair of wellies this year :|  OK I bought them second hand, and he'd probably wear them to bed if he could, but they'd had very little wear when we got them and both were decent brands. With the rate kids grow out of shoes you wouldn't think it was that hard to make a pair with soles that can outlast a few toddlers. :/

My apple blossom was ravaged by bullfinches in the spring, and the few apples at the top of the tree were attacked yesterday by hungry jackdaws.  Now today one of the plumbers here to finish off a few outstanding jobs decided to pick one of the 5 remaining apples near the ground, for his lunch...   :#

He got a tongue lashing from Hubby, who knows how much I'm looking forward to trying those apples...

I've got an apple tree at my parents' place that I thought had an odd infertile branch. I leave it to its own devices most of the year but turn up to pick the crop when my dad lets me know it's ready. The one side of the tree rarely has any apples but there's plenty on the other side. I found out though that my brother-in-law keeps picking them for a snack as he drives past on the tractor mower.
It looks like being a bumper apple year though. I'll be running the dehydrator non-stop soon. You don't need plug-in air fresheners when you have a dehydrator and a big box of apples. :)

I know new toilet facilities cannot magically appear but if the existing ones are open and clean that would help, if the toilets here can all stay open throughout the pandemic I fail to see why those in beauty spots were closed. Nobody would prefer to use a field if a clean or even dirty toilet was available. I accept they are busier but people will queue if they have to. It is just another example of the mismanagement of the situation.

Unfortunately you can’t let people into a public toilet when it dirty, during COVID they need special cleaning, PPE to be worn, the whole thing disinfected after every person, will people wait? No, certainly not down here in Cornwall they’d be riots, you’ve no idea of what it’s like here.
I certainly wouldn’t want to clean a toilet block with a queue of holiday makers.
It isn't just a case of cloth round the seat and brush on the drapes, it’s a risky business.

  • Do public toilets have their own regulations then? I've visited a number of tourist attractions and pubs since lockdown was relaxed and none of them are cleaning between each person. They all have notices about sanitising hands before entry and washing hands after using the toilets and all have a maximum capacity and a  "one in one out" rule but that's all.

I'd not heard that about public toilets either - seems odd when lots of pub etc toilets can be used by the public and don't have the same rules. More frequent, more stringent cleaning, yes, and suitable PPE for the cleaner, but not between each person's use. Is it specific to Devon CC rules, do you think, Lyn?
