I saw a lovely dahlia recently had some weird name, cannot remember it. My oldest daughter got all annoyed because my trio of blue berries have people names. I said they have to be called some thing. Then we were going out hubby " take the Adam" she got all annoyed again,"why do you call your car,Adam". Er because it's a Vauxhall Adam!!

Some friends have a daughter called Penny. The local kids at her new junior school in Spain struggled with it so pronounced it pee-nee. Which is also local for the male appendage. Poor child got ribbed mercilessly, but when her mother asked if she would prefer to use her middle name, she was adamant that it was her name and she would stick to it regardless. Bravo Penny!

Some of the names mentioned here made me think of the "don't" thread...may I say - Don't let your kids name the hens!!

Who on earth would call a rose "Proper Job"?  It sounds like the work of a con artist or the contents of a toilet. I would need to find an alias.

Similarly, I find it disheartening that anyone would gift a rose based on its (awful) name alone - like "Mum in a Million".

I would be ok as a name for a chrysanthemum though 🤔😀
