Would the name of a plant put you off buying it?

I noticed the name of a plant on another thread and thought - no, not for me. Even if the name means something nice, or descriptive to a botanist .
In London. Keen but lazy.

    If it was called Donald Trump it might put me off, but not general botanical Latin names.

    A few years ago I was looking for a medium height pale pink rose and a smaller white rose.
    I'd already decided on Gentle Hermione - nice enough with a link to Shakespeare
    The only white one that met my needs was William and Catherine.....  if anyone asks the name I'd feel a bit embarrassed saying it was W&C - as if I'd bought it in celebration of them - it's a nice enough rose though

    Silybum marianum😁. I haven't seen any coming up yet this year though. Normally it self-seeds well. Sticky willies are appearing all over the place though . And my cuttings of Clematis alpina "Willy" are coming on a treat.......

    Bought my eldest daughter some blueberries, she was horrified they had womens names, thought it was ridiculous, well, things have got to be named something havent they.  With me, sometimes, theres a christian name male or female that has unhappy memories, that might make me think twice, or some of these iritating "Z" lister celebs who have plants named afer them, annoying vacuuse personalities who really do use certain antidandruff shampoo!!!

    Plant and animal names are clearly made up by some very odd people. I was looking up some earwig info a while ago and found that the lesser earwig has the latin name 'labia minor'. :# 
    One day I hope Monty will open up a public poll to name part of his garden and the type of plants that will go there and we can rally support to call it 'The innuendo garden' and have all the comically named plants grown there. His rampant sticky willy will put on quite a display I'm sure. :)

    I had an Aster "Kylie" a few years ago (dreadful name).  It kept hanging over the neighbours garden, but I should be so lucky, they didn't complain.
