Morning all, Have just got back from Ashwoods.  Bought a few plants with my birthday money.  Nothing mega exciting, some alpines to replace the summer snow in the front garden and a couple of green plants for the wrought iron basket that Firstborn bought me for my birthday.  They are both new to me, I'll have to check the names.  Also bought some rose feed and erricacious plant food for the rhodos, camelias and magnolias.
We had to queue for a while but luckily it was under the shade of some rather lovely trees.  I've planted up the basket but have come in to cool off before tacklling anything else.
@Songbird-1 I heard that it was the last week too but no-one seems to be able to confirm it.

Hazel I was just going to suggest Robert Dyas for staging, but see you now have some. Hope you get some gravel soon. Yes I keep thinking of black out blinds or curtains, but it was the birds singing their little heads off this morning that woke me up, sounded like a couple of hundred out there, they were so noisy.
House a few doors down looks like they are having a new kitchen put in, the old cabinets are on the front garden 🙄 The Vans are causing chaos there's so many, we live in a close. Can't see how they can be social distancing the amount of men there are🤔
Time for a cup of tea in the garden

Afties all. I had a lovely meet up with my Bestie. It is so much nicer to see her face when I was talking to her. We had about 2 hours of nattering and its just as well the weather was so nice. Hoping to do similar next week. Ruby, I really like any kind of daisy flower and gerberas are really special. Glad that you got your staging Hazel. It can be very hard on the back having to bend over to do potting etc. Yvie, I am waiting for a little easing of the sun before I get some watering done.
The lady who started the clap for carers was on TV this morning and she said that it would be a good idea to stop after tonight in her words:
“To have the most impact I think it is good to stop it at its peak."
I will be taking part tonight and that will be, for me, the last time.

Chive, I’ve been walking today not very far but it helps.  I rewarded myself with a kitkat and a cuppa.  LB and Hazel I will also be doing the last clap for carers tonight.  LB glad you had a long catch up with Bestie.   Hazel good to hear from you.  How sweet with the baby birds.

Hi all busy day at work and then had to go to allotment, we had an email saying squirrels had drowned in a water butt on a neighbouring plot and I was so worried I had to go round and set up some drinking stations. 2 shallow trays filled with water for squirrels and other creatures to use. I can’t stand to think of animals being thirsty, I even put out a dog bowl in front garden as lots of dog walkers pass by and their pooches may be thirsty. The squirrel trays are on a slope so one end is extremely shallow and it’s no more than 5-6 inches deep even at the deepest point. Hope they use them and stay out of the water butts in future.
Sounds like you have all had a good day enjoying your gardens in this lovely sunshine. Long May it continue.

Not so many out clapping tonight and no fireworks or gun shots either. Thought it would be much noisier as it's supposed to be the last one.
As from Monday people can see family or friends in back garden ....max of 6 people, I'm sure some will ignore this and there'll be more.
Not sure where we stand though, didn't hear anything about the people who have to stay in till the end of June 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Eek Debs, that story about the poor squirrels is so sad. I can't bear to think of little creatures being hurt or killed in any way. Well done you for providing water for various passing furry friends. I think you get the gold star for being the rescue ranger this week, what with your neighbour and providing the drinks.
Chive, I got an email this evening to say that I have received a full refund for the bird feeders that mysteriously never turned up. Result!

SGL, it was quieter here tonight as well - no fireworks. We still had the people in passing cars sounding their horns though. One of my neighbours across the road shouted to me that she didn't know what she would do next Thursday. Its amazing to think that we have been doing that for 10 weeks and that the first Clap for Carers was done in the dark before the hour changed.

Thought that's what it would be, Hazel. I understand and would hate for OH to catch any thing.......especially after being so very careful all these weeks. But really want to see my sons and poppets.
