Thank goodness you found it in time @Nanny Beach

It’s been a quiet sort of day, didn’t feel like going for my walk because of the wind. Cleaned the dining room and the breakfast room. This afternoon I’ve been putting up the hem of one of the sitting room curtains which has been pinned for ages. It’s a floor length curtain for the French windows, quite heavy. Arthritic fingers don’t like it.

    Evening all,  :)

Better day than yesterday, sometimes I do wonder about being self-employed, so many worries but having made some difficult decisions yesterday am better able to deal with them today.

Had to go into Limoges today to order floor covering for the newly plastered, re-wired and painted kitchen. It looks so white and shiny I think I will be reluctant to cook a greasy English breakfast or fry up fish and chips ever again.  :o I do have a nice new extractor fan so hopefully that will help.

I tried desperately to buy the floor covering locally but as it has to be of an industrial quality it just wasn't possible. Limoges is about an hour away, I haven't left my own little town since the 7th of March so I was feeling a bit nervous. Last time I was there was the end of February, just before I went skiing and it was amazing to see the difference, green trees, long grass, flowers in all the gardens and borders by the side of the roads. I even managed to miss a turn because it looked so different. The place I got the floor covering was a bit scary at first. There was a queue outside (metre spacings  marked on the floor). You had to wear a mask, had to sanitise your hands as you entered and had to be accompanied by a member of staff throughout the store who was the only person allowed to touch the merchandise. Only 4 people allowed in the store at a time, I think probably because only 4 staff on duty. Despite all that, I managed to order what I needed, the man was very helpful and I did appreciate they were just trying to keep me safe.

After that I went to Leroy Merlin, a DIY store. again I had to queue. Apparently, they have allocated a number of shopping trolleys to control the number of people in the store at any one time. Masks were compulsory as was having a trolley. As my turn approached to enter a security man sanitised a trolley and gave it to me, after I had done my shopping I then handed the trolley back to another security guard who also sanitised it and sent it back to the man on the entrance. Very efficient, well managed and actually both security guards smiled in a friendly way (from behind their masks) and wished me a bonne apre-midi. Everyone in the store behaved well and kept their distance. Unfortunately, the kitchen worktop I ordered isn't available until the end of July so in fact just not possible to buy. Back to the drawing board, but although a little weird and surreal, very reassuring to experience life in the big city and see they are taking each others welfare very seriously.

Tomorrow I am having a 'day off'. Going to a BBQ with my staff and their families, social distancing of course, we're all taking our own plates etc. Very difficult but if it means we get to see each other and chat we'll do it.  :)

Glad to hear @Obelixx is nearly with us, thank you @Fairygirl for the update, seems an interminal amount of time to be offline, so frustrating for her I'm sure.

i am not sure about neck exercises but I would give anything for an all over stress relieving massage at the moment - have wonderful memories of a Turkish masseur a few years ago.....a different world away now.  :p

I'm pleased to say that the goldfinch must have survived and has now flown off.
Yviestevie, perhaps I'd better cut down on the chocolate as well, don't want a shock like that!

@D0rdogne_Damsel all that queuing and sanitising is the same here, most places provide hand gel too. When I went to the 2 GCs I had to take a trolley and use hand gel, same for B&Q.

Curtains are finished, ironed and hanging.

Good morning and it seems birthday wishes are in order for @punkdoc Many happy returns of the day.  Sunny, the wind has abated but still present, a little fiddle in the garden and then I think I'll walk the dog before it gets to hot.  Have a lovely day, everyone.
