I don't have ticks luckily but I can't seem to get rid of vine weevils. After spending every night squashing adults last summer, spending the winter doing root checks on every plant and feeding numerous grubs to the birds I thought I'd be on the way to seeing the back of them but I'm still killing 5 or 6 adults a night at the moment. Mostly they're freshly pupated too so they're not coming from elsewhere.

Im thinking of when they are brand new, fresh, floppy, soft and delicate. I was wondering if you could chop them up like other leafy herbs @Obelixx. Only one way to find out😋😝😜
I'll try them with new potatoes

Four ticks extracted today, every itch prompts another detailed examination. That is over a dozen so far this year. I HATE TICKS! Wildlife friendly gardening does have its drawbacks.
I delivered to a hedgehog rescue place yesterday and the Boss was saying ticks have been a nightmare on Hogs this year.

It’s the early warm weather = procreation 🙄

I thought for a moment, B3, you were talking about wild edges’ newly pupated vine weevils.

Nothing seems to be eating adult vine weevil here but the birds think vine weevil grub is the height of gourmet treats. I don't know if that means the adults taste bad or they're just good at running away.

I'm peeved today because somebody has cut my gate ties off again. We walk down to the newsagent via the community orchard and over a small wooden bridge which has metal gates each side (never quite understood why unless it's to stop cyclists). One side has steps down next to a farm fence so I tied this one back a few months ago, so we and other people don't have to touch it (virus protection). I've now tied it back for the third time with a notice explaining why, so hope it now stays open. I'm not holding my breath though. The first gate has nothing to tie it back to, so everyone squeezes through the gap at the side. Whoever installed the gates in the first place obviously never had small children in pushchairs!

Why are the gates there if they don't need to be kept shut? I predict foot activated latches will become very popular before this pandemic is over.
