    Morning all/afties Pat
Wee frost again but the sun is out, so hopefully it'll be good for getting on. Daughter still had some idiots pushing their luck yesterday @Hostafan1. Hope yours are better behaved...
Ouch @Obelixx. You need to stay off the wine during the day.....
Acer bed starting to look good now. Lots of hard work done. They look great against that wall for showing them off.
Acers love our climate here and I eventually got one last year. It's coming away nicely - very fine, filigreed foliage. There's a wayward stem which will need a tidy later on.

Ol' Captain Tom is approaching his target . Bless him.  I hope some of the clowns treating this pandemic as some kind of joke are paying attention....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I don't understand why should anybody mind if they see strangers walking down 'their' road. As long as they keep their distance, that's fine by me. We're fortunate that we live on a beautiful scenic lane but there are big built up estates near us and it's good to see lots of people out walking. I've never said hello to so many people before, it's great!
I've left piles of old garden magazines out at the end of our drive for people to help themselves if they want - it's helping me to get rid of them and helping others to hopefully get interested in gardening.
There is no issue seeing strangers walking down "our" road. I did not say that. It was an observation that is all, which a neighbour had also observed.  All we were commenting on was the new volumes of people walking up and down our road. As a quiet road it is very unusual to see more than other residents and the odd dog walker/jogger.

Had a disturbed night so treated myself to a lie-in to compensate 😊. So late on parade 😳

Got the good news yesterday that my greenhouse will be going up next week.  They paused for a while to take stock, but have now worked out a way of going about their business that respects the Government rules.  I’m very pleased, as my windowsills are overflowing 😀.  Not essential (for me) but important to keep a local business ticking over.

Now its time to make the most of a fine day before the rain sweeps in tomorrow .....

Another sunny day so gardening is what I will be doing today, especially planting.  :)

Sunny here too but no gardening for me.  Disturbed night with both knees complaining so a lazy morning reading and cuddling a dog and 2 cats.    I shall make fabric masks this pm instead so I can post some to Possum tomorrow when I go and do the weekly shop.

I've always admired Hardy's stand at Chelsea @Busy-Lizzie.  They seem very professional and knowledgeable whenever i've asked questions.   Great that you can have your greenhouse @Chicky and safely too.  Try and relax @D0rdogne_Damsel and make the most of your downtime to plan but also enjoy time with Charlie and your garden.  Don't know if he's interested still but there's a record number of women entered in the Vendée Globe this year.

I love the filigree maples too @Fairygirl but I'm pushing my luck with the palmatum types even in a north facing bed.   Don't understand bad shopper behaviour.  What do they think it achieves?   Haven't seen any here tho my exposure to it is limited to my weekly excursion.

Hope you get to enjoy time in your garden @AuntyRach and anyone else in key roles and who has a day off.

Hugs to all who need them in these trying times.

Hi folks,  Not a good night, must stop watching the news while they are talking about care homes,  all it does it worry me too much.  IBS is playing up and I can't stop thinking about mum and how much she hates being stuck in her room.  Have wrote letters, sent photos and have called this morning but she can't hear the phone and they have no way of facetiming.  Have called my sister who is in sheltered housing and they are all right.  Was worried about my two neices, one is a nurse in Oz and the other has gone back to front line nursing here (she normally runs a mental health team).  I should just give myself a good talking too and be grateful that eveyone is OK.
Sorry to hear about your fall @Obelixx hope you are OK.  I'm an Acer lover too.  Have two in pots and two in the garden, they do well here and provide some lovely colour especially in the spring.
We're having our cooker delivered today.  A couple of days ago I asked Hubby if he had checked that it would fit the gap.  He said not to be so silly as they were all 600mm.  Except of course the one he is taking out which is 550mm.  Whose silly now.  He is currently taking out a worktop and moving the tumble dryer across so that it will fit.  I haven't said 'I told you so' yet.  Don't think I need to.

Hugs to you Obelixx, XX yes, isnt it satisfying being able to say "told you so to a bloke", hubby got letter from work saying they want list of symptoms (if any) and temp taken twice a day, for 14 days, dunno what happens then, but heyho

Seems a bit quiet on here today.  Well I gave myself a good talking to and went outside and removed a bag of gone over grape hyacinths, removed the foilage too.  Don't mind if they don't come back as I'm trying to get them under control.  An impossible task I think.  Have also cleaned the kitchen, did it all at breakneck speed so now I'm sitting down and getting my breath back.
A workman is coming this afternoon to take a look at some pointing we need doing on the corner of the house, we'll be sure to stay a good distance away.  I suspect he needs the money and I don't mind him doing the work at a distance.

Probably quiet cos I’m not using ‘devices’ much to try to deal with this neck pain 🙄
I’m also practising my descant recorder (haven’t played it in years) so I can take part in the Doorstep Playathon tomorrow at 5pm with the Nat Youth Orchestra playing Beethoven’s Ode to Joy for the NHS, key workers and to encourage positivity and music.
Anyone joining me?  Ode to Joy is dead easy. 😊
