@Liriodendron I told you some of these chaps are magicians!!   I'm fine thanks.  My ankles are very loosely put together so go over all the time.  Bit of a bruised feeling on the knee and an ache in the shoulder.  Might have a day off tomorrow.

This is the new Japanese maple bed with a close up of the stone OH didn't find and which I have kept as a stepping stone to the old steps.  Minstrel is there for scale - a barely 4 kilos pussycat.

    Evening. Hope all are well.
Thank you for your words of thanks and encouragement- it means a lot.
Shift wasn’t too awful today but we are all suffering with sore faces and aching feet, although nothing in the scheme of things.
Off tomorrow so a bit disappointed to see rain is forecast, but actually my garden needs it so I will accept that.
My garden and I live in South Wales.

Looking very good @Obelixx, I envy you the lovely stone outbuildings - as well as the acers.

I didn't know rain was forecast tomorrow AuntyRach, I thought it was Friday. Pleased to note you have a day off anyway - you could always have a long lie-in, I'm sure you deserve it.

You should be fine tomorrow @AuntyRach.  Maybe not bright and sunny but not wet till Friday.   Enjoy a well deserved rest and change of pace whatever the weather.

@Lizzie - Thanks.   Japanese maples are a lot cheaper over here than in the UK and cheaper still in Belgium.  We brought 4 with us and have bought 3 more here.   That bed faces north so only gets direct sun in the morning for an hour or so and then after 7pm in summer so they should be fine.  My main worry is how long the ruins will stay up.  No plans to rebuild or renovate.

I like acers very much but as we are south facing on a steepish hill, there is hardly any shade. I only have one left now at the back of the 'orchard' so it gets a little shade but still gets scorched occasionally.

Bed is looking good @Obelixx Acers don't like my French garden.

My plants came from Hardys Cottage Plants, very pleased, healthy and well packed. I'll plant them tomorrow.

  • I love Acers too, you have made that bed look lovely @Obelixx. Worth the effort and injury. My little one from two years ago is really starting to come on now.

I spent the day at Chateau de Gateaux today waiting for the delivery of my pergola 'roof' - didn't arrive  :/ but I did get to do a lot of tidying up. The spring colours are beautiful. Such a shame there is only me to enjoy them. I am posting on my FB page for my regulars who are all in lock-down.

I am struggling to sleep though, have so much going on in my head, planning for when we re-open but not being able to actually do anything is very tricky. I have taken to writing lists, albeit at 4 in the morning.  :smirk: At least I haven't got to get up for work.  :/:)

Hope you all have a good day.  :)

    Morning all.
Off to the coal face this morning.
I hope the balance is towards gratitude than ingratitude to day.

DD. Can you convert to take away meals instead?  My local coffee shop is doing that. She is making meals and putting them in takeaway containers and freezing them. She is doing a good business now that people have found out they’re good meals. She’s run off her feet and keeping her staff busy as well. We brought home a chicken and asparagus in a thick sauce and wrapped in a pancake. We enjoyed it. 😜

Good morning all. Sunny but very high winds here today. I haven’t ventured out at all. It’s whistling down the chimney. Lucky we haven’t started it yet.
