I am glad you are getting on OK with your ex @D0rdogne_Damsel But be careful he doesn't start controlling you again, I remember how unhappy you were. But it's a lovely place to be living in. The garden will be happy that you're back. Are the lilies coming up?
Looks a bit grey and chilly outside. I'll paint another wall in the guest room, just the rollering to do, I painted the edges yesterday. Fiddly wall, has a window and a radiator.
I ordered more paint and some wood from OH for B & Q yesterday so I'll be able to do the grandchildren's room too. It took ages as their website was overloaded.

Agree totally about turning "doing nothing" into "doing something" for the sake of one's mental health. We are really lucky to have so much still really needing to be done, to get the house the way we want it. Hubby has been spending most of the last week sorting his sheet music (yes, there is indeed that much of it!), and storing most of it in 10 filing cabinet drawers. There are also numerous scores, carol books, madrigal books etc, so that fills a large Billy bookcase... meanwhile I've been sowing seeds and stashing them in the new "blow-away" mini greenhouse, and digging out masses of wild arum, brambles, ground elder and couch grass from the area which will serve as a veg bed this year. And when I've felt guilty enough, I've been cleaning up plaster dust again, as it settles... and taking our 2km constitutional, down the lane where we meet nobody but can admire violets, primroses and birdsong. Like you, @chicky , I've not felt able to concentrate on reading yet. Jigsaws and DVDs are good for evenings.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Morning all. Lovely sunny day with bright blue sky but still quite cold.
I finished reading Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and the Light - all 900 pages of it which has taken me roughly about a fortnight to plough through. I must admit I was rather under whelmed with it as the author included lots of scenes from her previous two books so there was a deja vu feeling about it. She also seems to revel in the really gory bits which I found rather disturbing.
Oh well, at least it kept me quiet and out of mischief!
Hi folks, Everyone seems to be keeping busy. Enjoy that garden DD but in the words of The Who 'Don't get fooled again' I know, a few liberties taken with the lyrics.
Hubby has mowed the lawns this morning while I edged them.
Went to collect my prescription earlier and was amazed buy how busy Kingswinford was. Queues everywhere and it was really difficult to keep 2 metres apart. I had got a list of shopping to get while I was out but thought better of it and came straight home. I suspect it's because people were stocking up after the Easter Weekend. I don't need anything that bad.
We had a frost this morning but I don't think anything in the garden/greenhouse/cold frame has been damaged.
Had been feeling a bit down yesterday about missing the grandchildren but Firstborn called last night and we ended up on Facetime playing cards. It was quite clever how she had worked out how we could play together using two packs of cards. We also played anothe game but can't remember what it was called. Anyway we had a lot of fun and it cheered me up no end.
I was very surprised this morning to get a call from B&Q to say the paint I ordered was ready to be collected. I hadn't even received their email yet. We went and picked it up. There were more people around than I expected and a queue of people with trolleys outside Sainsburys.

Hi everyone, full day at the Allotment, first time in a long time. Spent a long time "applying" nematodes for slugs, you are supposed to wait for a dull damp day well it started dull. I then dug out the Pheromone traps for Plum moth, and Codling moth it's a bit early but as the season seems to be early thought I would deploy them anyway. See you think you know someone but I bet you didn't realise I was into biological warfare
I’m awake @Fairygirl ... on my second coffee ... OH has just gone out for a thrash around the block on his bike. The sun is shining and it’s a glorious (if chilly) morning.
Good morning all 😊 ☕️ ☕️
Ive tried with Hilary Mantel, really I have ... there’s just something about her writing style that irks me ... I like what I’ve heard of her on radio and tv progs, admire her knowledge, research and approach to her subject .., but I find myself grinding to a halt when I read her books ... maybe I should give her another try ... when I’ve got through my To Read stash ...
