Yes nearly two weeks and nothing. There in trays in the shed window so cool and light, but not direct sunlight.
That's strange, were they certified seed potatoes from a good supplier? Never had it where they don't chit. They should still grow if you plant them though. Do you know it's just tiny green shoots, not big wobbly bits like when they get left in the back of a cupboard that you want?
Busy day for us today. I set-up the propagator in the garage (it has a light bank the refection can be seen in the top panels). Was glad my son could pitch in, we got a production line going and managed to get everything I wanted planted, Tomato, Courgette, Sweet Corn, Marrow, Pumpkin and the first batch of Dwarf French Beans.
Busy day... so warm! Things are growing like rockets now! Not sure what's happening with your new potatoes Tinpot. Just use some cooking ones that have started to shoot maybe? I've had success with that before Put my new potatoes in my pallet planters today. Another good growing weather day tomorrow!
Main crop varieties of potatoes quite often don't chit much. They'll still grow though - they're just much slower growing.
I'm very behind with seed sowing - chillies are up though and some chard. I've got dwarf peas desperate to go out but I still haven't managed to finish my fences which blew down in the winter. No point planting anything out until my fences are secure - the hungry hordes would descend overnight and that would be that.
Tomatoes, broad beans, brussels sprouts, beetroot and parsley all sown last weekend. Toms, sprouts and beets are already poking their noses up. I also did a tray of different salad leaves, also now germinating.
I'm hoping OH will help me with my fences tomorrow

These are new, rocket and another variety from a specialist.
Apologies I forget who suggested growing them in bags, but I’ve got some car tyres in the kids area I’m going to use. Do you need just one tyre per plant, or does it take two or three as they grow and need earthing?
Ill put them in tomorrow, I can’t hang about forever 😅
I made a little greenhouse/poly tunnel using a piece of clear polythene and some wire hoops on top of my potting bench so I have expanded my seedling nursery. The courgettes seeds I sowed last week have come up already! Do you think they will be ok in the frost tonight??
Probably not. Can you bring them in the kitchen tonight and then put them out again in the morning. I won't be sowing tender stuff until the end of this month.
When I first started gardening, people would say "would you put your baby in a cold bath?" or "Would you leave your baby out in a frost?"
It sunk in eventually how delicate plants can be!
So don't leave them to get frosted. I just started my seeds in a heated incubator. We have last frost in April here, so by the end of the month things can go out for a few hours a day, even then, they come in at night.
Thanks both. I can easily bring them in to the annexe room, where my other seedlings are. I have just tidyied the area where all my pots will eventually go. I can’t wait to have the little ‘a-pot-ment’ in full swing.
