Planted seed on the 2nd March ( usually buy small plants as that's the only way to get Apatchi a red spring onion I like) then from the conservatory into the ground and have been picking a couple of weeks now. There are not as many as I would have planted as I didn't know how strong these would be, and I have been proved right as they are too strong for me,  but hubby likes them.

I picked one of the blackcurrant bushes today. just over 3 pounds washed and strigged and put in the freezer for winter purple porridge.  A few left to ripen, another bush in a more shady position has a few days to go.  I made a cage around the brassicas last week , ever since I found out we are having nightly visits from a roe deer doe.  She likes french bean leaves as well.

My kale is from some free seeds that came with my order. I normally grow cavolo nero, but this year it will be some curly kale called emerald.  For two of us, picking just enough kale leaves for one meal is better than a whole cabbage that only half gets used on day 1 and the rest goes in the fridge. We have had two ripe tomatoes so far, but the golden ones are starting to show colour.

First harvest, one hessian sack with three potato plants, two slugs and one snail in it!

It was so amazing seeing the first potato appear 😂

That's a great first haul. It gets addictive  :) Every year it's the same for me, digging up the first spuds, will there be anything there? Then up one pops, then another, then another...  :)

1.What do you like to eat.
2.For how long during the year do you want it available.
3.How much of each do you want.
4.How much area will you give to each veg

Go for it and write down...

1.What did I sow and when and where
    2.What happened.

    Good Luck.
